HBO offers 150,000 for Gonzalez-Estrada rematch

75 k each to two of the best fighters in boxing and for one of the best fights in boxing is nothing but a joke and shouldnt even be considered, its even more disgraceful when you see the likes of Berto whos nowhere near their level getting 400k to fight some bum and the likes of Broner and Garcia getting paid close to 1 million to fight scrubs. This really shows that the only good thing in boxing are the fighters themselves anyone that surround the sport and are paid to make **** decisions and some are even paid for doing close to nothing or to leech the fighters of a large % of their purse keep bring the sport down with their greed and incompetence.

 

They gave Andre Berto 910k to fight Freddy Hernandez. Think about that for a second.

True,it is low-balled,but at least HBO realizes these lower weight warriors are worth taking a look at.
This is something Showtime/Haymon would never look at.

 

I would be perfectly content with HBO telling the rest of the weight divisions to suck a d1ck and fcousing entirely on 105 - 126.

As good as Gonzalez and Estrada are, they're no names and nobody knows them outside of hardcore boxing fans.

Broner/Garcia generate huge numbers in terms of viewership.

If Gonzalez/Estrada want recognition, they need to do things to make their name heard, or sign with Al Haymon.

 

hbo dont care about boxing rankings or educating viewers, they care about making money. you could be the best boxer of all time, but if nobody wants to watch you, you arent worth a dime to hbo. its dumb to hate hbo for thinking this way, i dont want them telling me what i should be watching, i want them showing what i want to watch.
i would love to see that fight but i am in the minority as far as big sales go, and thats something that i understand.

 

Put on the most exciting fights that can be made with the top-tier fighters. I don't give a **** if they have name recognition or not. They paid andre berto 400,000 to fight a nobody but you didn't seem to care about that?

 

Boxing is a business first, sport second.

The fact is, the casuals don't know who Gonzalez or Estrada are. HBO would lose money on a Gonzalez-Estrada rematch.

exactly. maybe they feel 150k is all they can pay to please the nerds and still make money. or maybe its just the first attempt at negotiations. point is, if hbo thought they could pay these guys a million each and still make money, they would pay it without a problem.

Stage this rematch on HBO (with all the fire and momentum these guys have and with the raised stake, you know it will surpass Gonzalez vs. Estrada I) and you will start off a rabid demand for more sub-bantam action from even the casual fans. This will be the best stuff any of them will have seen in a long, long time.

Spend a little now to whet the appetites for the straws 'n' flies, and there will be a tangible return on investment, guaranteed. There can't not be. The quality is there, just needs the exposure.
