Wow, Lewis is truly an ATG, he wins fights while sitting outside the ring. I'll never complain about dubious scoring again.
I think Lewis actually threw more right hands doing the commentary last night than any of the fighters in the ring. The judges got it right if you ask me.
:rofl Very well spotted, guys! Granted, Ibragimov was very one-dimensional last night, but I hardly think it was jab-and-grab he was going for. Wanting to protect Wladimir's image, it looks like they're blaming it all on Sultan (I have expected them to say he invented cancer...) which is not the whole story. Still, that's boxing politics for you.
Klitschko came forward the whole fight and Sultan ran away the whole fight....hard to blame that fight lacking fire on Klitschko!
Both fighters fought scared last night, I almost can count on my one hand how many times Wlad let the right hand go. Iggy was looking for that one big left hand the whole fight, to bad it didnt connect. Iggy proved me right, he is just another limmited belt holder, who had no business being in the ring with Wlad, let alone being ranked ahead of any of the other title holders. Fights like this are part of the reason why the UFC has become so popular in the states, at least you get personality and some action in a UFC fight, my Grandfathers funeral had more action than the Wlad/Iggy unification fight.
Unfair criticism for Ibragimov. He's a natural counter puncher. Wlad barely threw any right hand at all, which is what Iggy likes to counter off of (watch the Whitaker fight for that). I have fought a guy who was tall and had good hand & footspeed as well as some pounds on me i can guarantee that it's extremely hard to get your punches off when they simply step back every time you open up and not allow you to counter with safe, long jabs from a distance. Yes, Ibragimov moved back most of the time, but he tried a lot of power punches often but simply fell short. As a Wlad fan i don't like to say this, but it was Wlad who was holding back and thus making for a boring fight. Ibragimov did all he could, but he was simply not in Wlad's class. Ibragimov is getting a bit of a raw deal here. The man has shown great sportmanship, wanted to unify by fighting Chagaev, but Ruslan pulled out (no trouble fighting Skelton though...), and then picked Wlad to unify. When the decision was announced he made a gesture like "Well he was the better man". Sultan deserves better than this.
I couldn't get over how they, on air broadcast, kept referring to Sultan as Barney Rubble. lol. That shits was crazy. Also IMO they seemed to never notice or give any sort of credit to all the body work Sultan was doing. All Wlad had to do was land 3-4 jabs a round, and according to them he completely dominated the round.
Ibragimov is awful and he should of never been given a shot at Wlad. I guess this thread though brought out the 3 Ibragimov fans!
Honestly, that's all you saw? 2 shots to the body?? Not to mention, I don't give 2 shits about Sultan, just popped in here because the HBO bias was noticeable.
yes that's pretty much all I saw, well he was throwing a lot of punches at air though so I guess that's something.
OK bro. I certainly don't care enough about it at all to debate it. But if you're saying that's all, then Sultan, in your view, only landed 2 shots the whole fight. Because he sure as hell didn't hit Wlad in the head.
