And here I thought the heavyweight division is dead, nobody in America cares about it, the division is the worst EVER and the Klitschkos are boring robot-bums.
Nope. But why do Mexicans care more about the dead heavyweight championship of the world rather than big fights like Margarito/Mosley? Or Chavez/Rubio in a Mexican showdown? I thought the heavyweight division is officially dead in America.
I'm not sure that they do care more. Perhaps it was just a case of more Mexicans having nothing better to do on that particular Saturday night. One thing I can tell you for sure is that Americans on a whole couldn't care less about Shitali's steroid cheating ass, which is why the vast majority of his fights don't take place here and most of them are aired on some off brand ass station like Epix or whatever the hell it's called. Current Mike Tyson could fight some can right now on HBO and more Americans would tune in than did for Shitali's last five fights easily. They could put Shitali's WBC belt around Mike's old ass waist and call him the "heavyweight champ of the world", and most people wouldn't even know any better.
If HBO could regularly line up US HW fighters like Arreola then HBO would be all over this. People blame the K brothers but the reality is HBO can't find proper American opposition. Nobody in the US watches Lewis - Botha, neither. In order to get ratings on US TV you need at least one American or at least US based fighter, ideally one with a big ethnic following.
I like that way of putting it. Whoa, did I hit a sore spot there, mate? I was just wondering about the great rating of Vitali/Arreola. By your logic it's even more surprising this fight has the highest rating on HBO. And mind that it was in 2009. Neither Hopkins, Mosley, Cotto, Chavez or Alvarez surpassed this free event rating and all of them are very popular, regular HBO (and PPV) fighters for years. So it seems the heavyweight division is suddenly not dead when an American is fighting for the crown? Or is Vitali more popular in America than we give him credit for?
Wladimir vs Haye did 1.2 million views. So it probably was the mexican base. (Though this fight was during the day for Americans)
Yes, Sir. Wladimir vs Haye - fight was in Europe - was shown in the afternoon on HBO - no American fighter involved - Haye virtually unknown, had his HBO debut These are also great numbers for a fight in the afternoon on HBO without American attendance. So when you say "it was probably the Mexican base" that tuned in for Vitali/Arreola, do you mean Arreola had a bigger fanbase in 2009 than f.e. Chavez and Alvarez have today? I dont understand how the Vitali/Arreola fight has the highest rating on Free HBO while America reckons the heavyweight division is dead and the worst era ever.
No you delusional dumbass. You're idiotic excuses for Vitali having high ratings is hilarious. The fact that you even think more people watched the fight for Arreola and not the best fighter in the HW division is hilarious. Vitali draws ratings, end of story.
