My understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that HBO BAD couldn't or wouldn't fund the type of money that it would take for a Clottey/PTP fight in November. As far as the Pavlik fight I heard or read that Arum and team Goosom had some kind of a conflict that lead to the negociations to be broken off. Once again the politics of boxing has gotten in the way of good fights but blaming PTP for not stepping up seems off base to me.

going to get a title at 154 is a good option for PW. After that he and Clottey can fight for the titles at 147 and 154

DKP is pissing away Sanots' career. I agree that Santos-Williams would be a great fight that should probably fall within the BAD budget except that DK keeps trying to insist that Santos is a headline type fighter, and thus he gets him no fights at all instead. Way too late to make that fight at this point though. Don't forget, the fight is only a month away, so anyone who takes on Williams would only have 4 weeks to train, which isn't nearly enough time for a guy like Santos whose walking weight is 175 or so to boil back down to 154.

    doesnt make sense.........

Delvin Rodriguez is a good fighter... So he'll fight Issac in a IBF title eliminator.... Which would likely lead to Collazo being the WBC mandatory or fighting in a eliminator... Collazo/Baldomir assuming Carlos doesnt fight Bonsu... and also assuming that Cotto fights Soto-Karass in a comeback fight...

Speaking of Soto-Karass, why not match Williams up with him.. both are action fighters... I wonder why Paul cant knock a mandatory out and take Michael Jennings... Jennings is a good boxer from what i seen of him, but that was pre- Young Muttley....

^ sounds fine to me... nevertheless, Marg should fight PW sooner rather than later.

Goosen offered Pavlik the same $4M he offered Margarito. Arum responded with the same $600,000 offer for Williams that he offered Allan Green. Obviously, neither was sufficient. Williams will make more fighting a patsy, and Pavlik will make more fighting Hopkins. It makes a lot of sense that this fight didn't get made at this time.

Well then I guess that makes Arum a liar, because Pavlik said himself that he chose Hopkins over Williams.

Williams isn't requesting anything. That's on his promoter. Furhtermore, the only time his team asked for a lot of money was to go up two divisions to face the top MW.

Who would you like Williams to fight in Nov.? Right now they have him scheduled to fight a JMW titlest. Margo was not fighting any beltholders on ESPN.

don't forget william's intention to hold the belts of three different weight classes simultaniously. i'm sure he'll find time to fight clottey or keep it just fighting mandetories at WW and try to gain some credibility at MW.

They are trying to secure a rematch with Margarito, that is the only explantation I can make up for HBO, i mean Phillips is old man, washed up why not atleast put Williams in there with Quartey if you want an old guy to fight Paul, perhaps Ike would give him trouble to, Damn sucks for Rodriguez, but I am sure Delvin will get his shot sooner or later.

Well said, Brick. Instead of sitting around waiting for the perfect fight, Williams is staying active by taking on a titleholder at 154. It's his fourth fight of the year, so I don't know why he's getting criticized so much. Well, actually, I do know why.

Williams said himself that his preference and intent is to fight at welter weight in Nov. Now that this Rodroguez kid is out of the picture who would satisfy your standards at welter as PTP's next opponent? Just as a reminder all of the top welters are either busy, don't want to fight, or can't because of money issues.

Probably bad enough that Williams has to get payed, but he's also splitting the card with Arreola.

    insert more quarters, please...
