There have been lots of articles and talks about Cotto possibly fighting Cintron next, you probably just missed them but they were around.

He can't fight Berto even if they gave him a "best" offer, he has a mandatory to take care of in Collazo. Also there is no such thing as sending out major offers for nothing, this is a business as well, they're not stupid.

Mayorga is coming off a brutal KO loss, Juda is coming off a loss against a fighter he is set to fight next year in Clottey, even as stay-active fights those won't generate enough interest.

He's rumored to be fighting Phillips next, that's better than nothing at least considering the man can't get any reasonable fight lately even though he wants them.

There were tons of articles on Cotto fighting Collazo as well...not to mention the articles on Paul Williams against that UK Welter Jennings being almost signed. My point is just because they're talking doesn't mean they're fighting anytime soon.Look at Mosley/Margarito for a point of reference. Just because Cotto and Cintron are in talks doesn't mean Williams' people should just "aw shucks well that's dead."

Verno Phillips is a good win for Williams if he wanted to compete at 154..but if we wants to be a welterweight, He should be fighting Welters. His team has done a **** poor job of finding him fights.

 

Also Ike Quartey gave him a boxing lesson aside from that KD when he got careless and cocky classic Quartey there. Phillips cant hang with the top level fighters I know not a sole who thinks he won that fight with Spinks.
