Not to mention, you can throw out that bad economy crap when talking about DLH/Mosley.

No, not just a failure: MASSIVE failure. Gigantic failure.

This was it; this was going to be the complete GBP/Money May promotional world takeover rollout. Everything; every tool you could think of was to be used, no expense spared, a shot fighter people didn't realize was shot whom the public would buy as a legit threat.

    This was it: The Arrival.

    Result: The Super Dud.

175K more than two non-Americans with English-As-A-Second-Language issues who didn't film a Gladiator commercial, didn't try to game-out Twitter and who weren't stupid enough to be saying things like 4 million buys.

If I tell you I'm going to bang 20 girls in one night yet just get 8, that's a fail. Doesn't matter than I had 8 girls, the expectation is shattered and I look weak.

So weak, in fact, that I might have to start a PR campaign about how incredible it was that I hooked up with 8 girls that one night.

I posted this in the thread yesterday but one of the main ideas tought in business school is to "under promise, over deliver".

Schaefer and Golden Boy obviously were feeding their sponsors the same horse****. Even the day before the fight, Schaefer said that trends were showing that it may do upwards of 4 million. Did anyone believe this? No. Business is all about $$$ and ratings and 1.4MM was lower than 90% of people expected and that has to count for something.

Sponsors, HBO, etc are probably slightly disappointed with 1.4MM. That is my point. They probably paid out expecting more people to tune in.

Don't try to rationalize with that hack...How in the hell can the second biggest non heavy weight fight be cosidered a failure:nut

The fight did great numbers considering the dismal state of our economy. 1.4 million fighting a guy in Mosley who can't draw flies to **** has to be considered a success. Also, I would like to know what are the numbers for the Movie theatres. Maybe that took alot of revenue out of the PPV numbers.

Here's what the promoter's role is not:

Don't set expectations up so high that when you fall on your face you're forced to launch a PR campaign about how great it was that you wildly missed your expectations.

How much do these people make in total, the arena gate, food profit, advertising and PPV's?
