man, if you think Schaefer was telling Tecate behind closed doors that they were trending toward 4 million you need to turn in your business degree.

The numbers are good when you compare them to other fights. Compare to the hype? No. I was expecting 1.5-2 millions - as also many boxing fans, including PBF fans.

The same for the Clottey vs Pac fight. I was expecting 800k+, we got just under that. Still good in the big picture thing.

To be clear, I knew that the fight wouldn't do 2.4, 3 or 4. I posted here many times that I was expecting 1.6-1.8. Schaefer's bull**** rubbed off on many people, including you, so let's not jump to conclusions as far as how Ricky boy handles biz with his sponsors.

1.4 million? Come on man. It was one of the top 10 viewed PPV's. If anything is showed how wack SSM was and justified his small cut.

You tell that crap to Don King. He wasn't known for setting high expectations.

Real good numbers, I predicted it would have done 1.5, but 1.4 is def. great numbers.

You can see why PBF got paid so much more than SSM.

I thought Pac-Clottey would do 850K-1000000 it didn't meet my expectations but do I think it was a failure? Of course not. You can pull the thread from back then and see my response. I wanted the Pac-Clottey fight to do good because at the end of the day I'm a fan of the sport unlike some of those who posted in this thread.

Purse guarantee was 29.5 million (22.5 for May and 7 for Mosley) plus a percentage on anything above 1.2MM in buys. That should tell you that 1.2MM is around the break even point for this fight.

HBO was expecting more, don't kid yourself.

By themselves, the numbers were quite good. No doubt.

I think, though, that this fight promotion may have broken records in $$$ spent (would have to look that up) and it didn't come close to meeting the expectations its own people put on it.

It's like a firework that started out awesome then kind of ended without much bang.

Thats whats so dumb. Fans of boxing hate Mayweather so much they would rather his fights flop on PPV even though that would hurt the sport of boxing. I remember before the JMM fight these haters were saying it would be lucky to do 500,000 buys. When the numbers were released they then said it was JMM who brought the fans in. Some even claimed HBO were lying and the fight never did 1 mil buys.

Its a complete failure because Floyd will not make the projected $80 million they claim he could...
