Ha ha. Hey, if you're going to do $$$ humor, you probably should know the relevant stats, like this one:

    USA Federal Minimum Wage: $7.25/hour

Exactly these idiots hate PBF so much they would love nothing more than to see his PPV flop instead of it doing good and being good for the sport. I'm not a Pac fan but I would love him to do big numbers because it's good for the sport I love. I thought it was great that Pac-Clottey had 70000 people in attendance it brought a lot of attention to the sport.

I disagree, the whole point of making the outlandish predictions were to hype the fight even more . . . to make it an event (and if you do not see this you are a going to one of the few). If this was not more than one and done (like a movie) then this would deflate future box office drawings. I think this was a huge success and can be used as a big promotional tool in the future. Money has been in the 2 biggest non heavyweight bouts in history and currently the biggest draw in boxing.

I personally thought it was going to draw around 2mill but looking in hind sight I realize that this was way, way to high (I was starting to believe the hype). I am a fan of SSM, but like JMM, he is not a draw. however, you cannot compare this to Pac v Clottey because Clottey could draw a crowd @ a family picnic. For Pac to cliam to be #1 at the box office his number v Cotto should have done about .25 mill more because Cotto is a HUGE draw with a very large following.

This is a great thing boxing and shows that it is alive and well. PBF v Pac will do great #s but I cannot see it beating PBF v Oscar . . . it will do between 2-2.2 mill.

I'm not necessarily disputing the rationale behind the outlandish predictions, I just believe it was a terrible mistake to make them by seasoned pros like GBP.

78 million is only the ppv domestic revenue.

You know all the people overseas who tell you they get the fight for free on Skysports? Well how does Sky sports acquire the rights? Thats just one example. Theater is another example.

    HBO are happy.

    Dont kid yourself.

The expectation of 4 million? Come on man! That is fight hype.

IMHO, Boxing honestly SUCKS as far as promotion dollars go. Support for the sport as a whole is too fragmented. I don't care how much they spent. I am positive they made a handsome return.

Bolded represents a very small fraction of revenue generated for this fight.

Perhaps. But Im saying the 78 million is not all the revenue you are looking at. its only the domestic ppv revenue. Its really really hard to guess HBO's net profit.

there were plenty who thought this fight was going to do 2 mill though, to be fair

combine that with GBP's completely ******ed expectations and i can see a bit why people consider this somewhat dissapointing.

Regardless, its the second biggest non heavyweight fight ever, thats never a bad thing.
