WOW - is the minimum really 1.2 million buys???? I would expect half that - at least no where close to 1 million buys! The cost of promotion must have been high.

Do you know the minimum buys for the Pac vs Cotto?

HBO cares far more about WCB ratings than pay per views they distribute. They get their distribution fee regardless, it's the promoters that make big money off ppv, but it's a risk.

It's not how much money u make. Its about how much u can keep. Floyd is not very good at keeping money. How do u make damn near $100million in 2007, and have to return in 2009 because of money problems? :huh

If you could return to a sport where you can make over 30 million for about 2 months of training and a fight, you'd do it too. He could conceivably get 150 million more before he retires for good. He'd be a fool if he hadn't come back.

I agree, but Floyd better smarten up with his money. No reason why u need to come back in less than 2yrs because of money problems, when u made damn near $100 for the Oscar and Hatton fights.

I didn't even read the entire thread. Just a few posts.. But I have a question for those that question the prediction of 3mil ppv buys was actual fact instead of hype.

When Mayweather said he would make $40 mil on this fight. People said he was bullshitting and it wouldn't happen because Mosley ain't Pac and that's what he would of made with Pac. Now that he did make $40mil, one has to ask a simple question. Don't you think he calculated how much it would sell in order to make that $40mil? Therefore this "it's going to sell 3mil" was just hype. They were always shooting for something along these lines hence why Mayweather said he would make $40mil for this fight which proves that was the actual prediction they had. Think about it...

All in all great numbers for Mayweather and Mosley but I personally thought it would do somewhere around 1.7-2.2 buys.

And this was written on February 19, 2010.

One last thing Cotto is a way bigger draw than Mosley. Let's be serious..
