Anther masterstroke from hbo snatching canelo from showtime HBO has now brought back Canelo on a long term deal along with previously getting Cotto back to HBO as well as Hopkins. They now have 3 of the top 4 PPV attractions in Pacquiao Canelo and Cotto. Showtime is left with duckweather as their top PPV attraction. The power move by Showtime lasted less than 2 years Delahoya has put a huge wrench in that plan and has now brought over several stars back to HBO.duckweaher is going to have to make that Pac fight happen. Cotto Vs Canelo would definitely harm Floyd's ppv Numbers........... bottom line if duckweather wants Cinco de Mayo... he'd have to agree to fight Pac:deal HBO's production when it comes to Boxing is on a different level compared to Showtime. The writing and production on 24/7 make All-Access look like a high school project. Even HBO's little features have quality and effort put into them.. Things like "2 Days" and those little stories they do about Buffer and Kenny Bayless are great. Lampley's Fight Game show is a decent boxing program, even though many disagree with him about things. He does do a good job of getting casuals spun up on what's going on in the sport though HBO's boxing package as a whole is just better. HBO uses boxing as kind of a real-life drama series like Game of Thrones. You dont need big time names for a show like GoT to be interesting. You just need characters and compelling story lines.
Couple things. 1 - HBO does have those 3 guys but only Canelo is the only one with the Contract. Cotto and Pac can go fight on Showtime whenever they want. as of right now they do have 3 out of 4. 2- This will put pressure on Mayweather to make the Pac fight if he wants the date. if he doesnt want the date then theres no pressure to make the Pac fight from that prespective. 3- as of you saying Showtime only has Floyd. What if Mayweather-Pacquiao gets signed, I'm almost 90% sure it will be on Showtime! Why u say? because Canelo will fight May 2nd no matter what now. so If Mayweather-Pac goes down it will be on Showtime which pac has fought before. so now that it sounds like u want to lick HBO from the neck down. if they get Mayweather-Pac which can happen for sure, there goes another2.5 3 mil buys. if they rematch, another 2.5 3 mil buys. THAT SMOKES HBO FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS, espcially with 2.2 buys they just got last year. 4 - as of right now Showtime only has Mayweather has PPV but they have alot of young super stars. Cotto might have 3 more years left. pac only has 2. so HBO swooped the Canelo, but Thurman, Garcia, Broner can and most likely will all be superstars and will be on PV within the next 2 years, maybe even Garcia next year if he fights Mayweather. SO good for HBO and still good for SHowtime.
HBO boxing is a much higher quality product than Blowtime. Oscar would do well to get the rest of his fighters out of there.
In regards to your first point yes you're correct but both pac and cotto have shown their loyalness to hbo so they are good as theirs. You're third point is interesting but I just don't see it being on showtime only it will have to be on both showtime and hbo its that big both parties want in on it they would compromise on it like they did on lewis and tyson fight the problem is not between showtime and hbo its duckweather that's the key thing. finally your last point is totally incorrect HBO snatched canelo who was showtimes big asset they were grooming him to be the next ppv star cut it how you like it but that's a big loss for showtime and the guys like broner,garcia have not shown they are ppv material as of yet
canelo can't make weight.... can't cut a ring to save his life.... should have 3 losses.... he's not a ppv star and has done nothing noteworthy to garner all this attention. his days are numbered.
Yeah the Mayweather-Pac thing is tricky. even if they co promote, Canelo and Cotto will not one to be an undercard fight. they'll probably try to do what happen a couple of years ago when there was same dates, same city but different net works with Canelo-Lopez and Chavez-martinez. if they tried to do that again it would probably be like Mayweather-Pac at MGM, Cotto-Canelo at Thomas and Mack. but with Canelo getting the exclusive contract he wont be an undercard fight, even for mayweather-Pacquiao. So if they do Co Promote, looks like Showtime would show it. HBO can still get there cut but I highly doubt it will be main event at MGM, then a different Main event at Thomas mack or vice versa. Then SHowtime will have the only HW champ. and THAT Could be even bigger then Canelo at some point.

Manny has a contract with HBO. HBO put up a lot of the money to get Manny to resign with TR. Cotto has a verbal agreement, same as with TR. He could technically be snatched.
