HBO show there dominance yet again

So I guess Floyd is also like a ******* then........he back tracked when he said he'd never fight at a catch weight.....Even though he already did a catch weight fight with JMM, only to do another one with Nelo. This sh*t was silly when Floyd started pounding the drum to rally support against catch weight fights.

 

JMM and Canelo were sparring sessions. Nothing more. There was no title on the line for JMM. Floyd already had a title at JMW. He put his belts on the line as bait to get PAID.

 

Resembling a sparring session and an actual sparring session aren't the same. Both the Nelo and JMM fights were official boxing matches that were sanctioned by the NSAC. Title or not Floyd was out in force ragging on Manny's catch weight fight with Cotto only to fight Nelo in a title fight at or around the Jr MW limit. Floyd didn't need to bait Nelo to fight him......a floyd or Pac fight in boxing is like winning the lotto. Who needs to be baited to accept a winning lottery ticket?

 

if they're banking on canelo for their future, they're in trouble. he needed gift decisions against lara and trout. then there's the loss to floyd. he can barely make 154...and his days are numbered. he hasn't learned from any of his losses. the fights available to him aren't guaranteed wins. he's not a real attraction.

 

I agree. Nelo is reaching his peak in terms of popularity and his level as a boxer. The higher he moves up I think he'll find his ability diminishes.

 

Nelo is a stubborn guy and the reason why he fought trout, Lara and floyd (all boxers except for trout but still highly skilled) is because he demanded those fights. If hbo/golden boy feed him come forward fighters then he will get wins and yet just as popular. He has to be marketed correctly. Notice pac's popularity jumped when he faced sluggers.

 

Good observation. Nelo is a very good fighter for being so young, but he started his career very young and he will eventually out grow 154. I could be wrong but I don't see Nelo doing the kinds of things a prime Pacquiao was able to accomplish moving up in weight. If he can stay at 154 I think he's golden and he can become a huge star......but that depends on the crop of jr Middleweight's that we have now and ones that are on their way up......they have to be "names" and the talent has to be there for the Canelo express to keep on track.....and hopefully the talent have styles that will make for really exciting fights.

 

when hershman was running showtime sports, they did tournaments, they put on the best fights their budgets could afford. they were kicking greenburgs/hbo's a-ss with their exclusivity deal they had with gbp.

when hershman moved to hbo, he didn't renew the exclusivity deal with GBP, Espinoza did and now he's stuck and he'll likely get canned soon.

 

So let's see the division limit is 154. Canelo said he'd fight at 150 to get a chance at Mayweather. Mayweather said OK 152. Are you telling me a 20 year old can't make the upper end of that division without draining himself? :huh Floyd didn't fight Canelo at a "catchweight" to bring him down a division like Cotto v Pac, Ward v Dawson ... It was at the upper end of the division. Do you know 147+ to 154 is the JMW division?

 

Cotto never fought above 147 before the Pacquiao fight. Do you know your boxing ?:hi:

 

Nah......Nelo was fine. He had legs and stamina to go 12. He just didn't have the skills, style or experience to give Floyd a real test. He was a dangerous opponent but only due to his size and strength which Floyd nullified as soon as the bell rang for round one. Cotto called out Manny and Miguel threw out the catch weight of 145.

Miguel wanted the fight at 147 just like Nelo wanted it at 154 against Floyd......both Cotto and Nelo agreed to the catch weight title fights and NEITHER man came into their respective fights drained.

Those ore tired ass excuses upset fans or haters use to discredit the win. 152 is exactly 2 lbs away from the Jr Middleweight limit. 145 is exactly 2 lbs from the Welterweight limit. Did you know that 140+ to 147 is the Welterweight division?

 

The Stevenson/Canelo moves are a pretty accurate microcosm for each networks modus operandi.

SHO ruin one of the most anticipated fights of 2013 and capitalize by keeping Stevenson inactive in addition to having the Hopkins unification fall apart and losing Hopkins on their network because of their same underhanded tactics

HBO signs Canelo to a 3 fight per year, 3 year deal which includes one fight on regular HBO per year and sets up a highly in demand Canelo/Cotto fight.

How any of these idiots actually thought Showtime's strategy was a recipe for success longterm i'll never understand.

Great move by HBO bringing back the golden goose.I hope this means we get to see canelo vs ggg in the future.
