Al Haymon is a douche. Pryor and Oosthizen could be showcasing two rising supermiddles in a hot division. And here I thought Jim Bagg's Al Haymon interview was a parody. It must be for real that when Al says "Jump!", HBO says "How high?"

They got rid of Greenburg, now HBO needs to drop Kerry Davis, and then Haymon won't have any more whores calling the shots.

I am a bit interested though to see if this Russell is legit or just hyped up. Would make an interesting oppoent down the road for Gamboa or Donaire. But given Haymon's track record, could be another Berto, which uses up a lot of money and air time.

In reality HBO should be showing all 3.

More promoters need to stream their undercards. (legally like top rank)

Maybe a weird question but what does al haymon look like? I have never seen an interview with the guy or a picture but he gets mentioned quit often.
    Dude is like a ghost.

not really. they are in the business of attracting viewers. cultivating homegrown talent usually gets this done. i agree it may not be a competitive fight but a buzz for russell has already been built. its slowly progressing and after a few more nice wins he will start getting much bigger fights. fights they can profit off.

It's hard to find a picture of him online but he sits ringside (usually front row where the camera is facing) on any card one of his fighters is involved in.

Guy to the right on the cameraman on lower left side (and I just noticed Marco Antonio Rubio a couple rows up):

As far as the topic at hand, HBO probably has zero interest in showing a SMW fight considering that Showtime has a lock on the division at the moment. Instead they'd rather showcase someone they think has potential to be in big fights down the line and want to give him some exposure so people know about him when that time comes. Personally, I'd rather watch Russell who even though is fighting an inferior opponent at least I'll probably get to see a sick offensive display instead of two guys who will probably never be anything other then 2nd tier fighters in the division.

HBO knows something special when they see one. Forget Pryor, Russell is the superstar.
