Not true, Adamek has drawn very big crowds in the US. 20+ thousand for Briggs 1 and 30+ thousand for Briggs 2. Some shine came off him when he phoned it in against Dawson, but he still has a large fan base.
Haven't you heard, we are in a recession. MOney is too tight to spend paying Adamek and Cunningham what they deserve when no one is going to watch the fight because they don't know who they are.
I agree HBO and Showtime dont know what they're missing...With that being said, why wont Verses pick up the rematch....The first fight was shown on Verses so wont the pick it up since HBO and Showtime are acting like some bitches?
Adamek/Cunnigham fought in a Fight of the Year candidate.... Which means, the rematch will be nothing less than good.... Unless someone gets KO'd early... Adamek is a popular fighter, im surprised that HBO or Showtime is not using him as one of their new faces... In an Adamek fight there's always either excitement, or drama..... or both... Cunningham is a Don King fighter..... So there's always a chance that this fight airs n TV... As long as Don King makes one of his big cards... You're also wrong about one thing.... Hardcore fans are beginning to care more about the Cruiserweight division... Adamek has much to do with that.... BJ Flores doesn't help..
Oh, but HBO will throw $ around so we can see some P. Rican or Cuban fighters that I personally don't give a rats ass about...
That's you....Latino fighters bring in big viewers. That's how it is. Showtime is being stupid by not picking it up...but money may be playing into it. Sometimes finances make things impossible and there's not much you can do about it. HBO has clearly made it obvious they can give less than two shits about the CW division.
Right and can anyone name me the LAST time HBO showcased a cruiserweight fight? It's just one of those divisions that they have no interest in and unfortunately it's well within their rights to be that way.
i'd actually rather see JuanMa or Rigondeaux moving up the ranks than Adamek vs Cunningham and go figure the Cruiser that interests me the most is Guillermo Jones, from Panama
Maybe so... but you never know. The first Wlodarczyk I fight was pretty exciting and nice tactical battle where Krzysztof took more pace than Steve. I liked it a lot. But like I said you can never know.... Who expected Steve Cunningham vs. Tomasz Adamek to be a slugfest like it was? I didn't... i thought Steve would of made it mega boring due to his style. Excitment in the second fight isn't as sure as the first time. But its about 80% but HBO wont take that risk anyways...plus Steve cant sell out a phone booth. Really sucks, cause I really like Steve, he is a really down to earth guy.. I spoke to him a few times as well. I could talk with that guy for hours. Such a shame that he most likley has more Polish fans than American. He does somtimes make dumb statements and talks all funny but hes a good guy. Don King is a crook. He was basically one of the main reasons why Steve took that whole year off. King is killing Steve, just he tried to kill Adamek. Steve needs to leave Don ASAP. Yea, beginning is the key word in your sentance. This is only the begining.... that doesn't help much. There are tons of potential Cruserweight fans out there but they just seem to skim past those fights.
It's a Showtime fight. I would have figured they would pick it up. I suppose with having the Super Six now, they're not nearly as concerned with picking up this fight though, and would rather devote resources elsewhere.
