well it's to be expected that Showtime will now be a bigger player for GBP fights. Don't care which network carries the rematch, as long as it occurs. Maidana wanted to fight Malignaggi. Alexander wanted to fight Malignaggi. Hopefully this is either the birth of the new found network pressure or Schaefer making another good fight, either way Maidana-Alexander beats those 2 options.
I would doubt that HBO wouldn't accept Berto-Ortiz which makes me inclined to think that either the fight could be in jeopardy or GB maybe considering putting it on PPV.
Antwuan-go make a thread on his latest tweet. This isn't great news as a whole. stevemaxboxing Steve Kim Word is that HBO is cutting their #boxing budget, and from this point forward, Showtime will be in play for more fights...
I do agree with Steve on the surface. A lot of HBO fighters, Berto/Dawson etc, are severely overpaid. They bring no ratings, no ticket sales, it doesn't make sense. But I think for the short term GBP and TR may once again flood the market with lower priced PPVs. We'll see more Pinoy Power type cards as the promoters gauge whether it's better to accept lower guaranteed $ or take the risk of PPV.
The reason I dont like this is because the 'buzz' stuff will probably be what gets cut... And I heard HBO was going to put out a boxing show like inside the nfl and whatnot? I just dont like this :-(
I'd love to see Maidana knock Alexander out. Though I do fee bad for Alexander having gotten exposed 3 times already.
At least Devon fights Everybody. Kotelnik, Bradley, Matthysse, and Maidana? ****. Win or lose that guy will fight anyone.
