Yes quite likely. Dawson draws no money whatsoever and has virtually no fan base. He'll go anywhere that offers him a decent payday.
A 3rd fight would never happen in the States. Froch and Kessler are two prime examples of a fearless European warrior. That draws loads of money over here. In America they prefer skillful but boring, God-worshipping *******s like Ward. They'd rather see two guys have a chess match fight instead of a war. That's a key difference between American and European fans IMO.
he still gets big money from HBO though. Wouldn't be shocked to see Dawson vs Bellew at Goodison Park in July though.
Not true, and just sounds like a bitter statement. "Yeah these Americans may be better and more skillful than us but they're boring". Have heard it plenty of times. In America they like winners, and winners tend to be skillful and smart, as well as tough. Ward is no less a warrior just because he doesn't block punches with his face. Pacquio is a superstar in the US and hardly boring. Same with many Mexican and Mexican American fighters that are usually aggressive, and popular with US fight fans. You could easily point to the Klit brothers filling football stadiums in Germany fighting no hopers and say that Europeans like boring, safety first heavyweights.
If Froch wins a close fight, a third wouldn't happen in Britain, nor would they go back to Denmark. Of all the neutral locations, America is the best choice.
Yeah, even though there are plenty of neutral venues in Europe, places like Germany don't offer the money that Atlantic City, New York or Vegas can. Ticket sales wouldn't be great in Europe unless it was in Britain or Denmark, and the money from American TV and casino venues make America the obvious neutral venue for a third bout.
PaulieMc is one of the most clueless of the newer posters on here. And that is really saying something. Why would a US casino pay big money for a fight with two European who are unlikely to attract the high-rollers, or ticket sales, or TV money to make the venture profitable? Wishful thinking, Jack.
So I've googled this...Khan/Maidana got a site fee of $500,000. Can't see Froch/Kessler getting much more than that. Neither fighter has a history of taking large followings to Vegas and neither is a draw in the US. Casino fees are doled out on the assumption the fight will bring people into Vegas who'll then spend money in the casino. American TV - there's already a US tv deal in place for this. Usually they pay a bit more for live fights in the US so yeah, might generate higher revenue from that. The downside would be likely lower PPV sales in the UK and Denmark due to the fight taking place at 4am. The only two markets for Froch/Kessler II and III if it happens is the UK or Denmark. If there's more money for both guys in Froch/Kessler for both guys than any other bout on offer then they'd do it. Forget this stuff about needing a neutral venue.
The Bradley - Alexander fight is proof that ticket sales are not everything when it comes to making money. Both fighters made over a million dollars. The fight had an attendance of around 4,000 and half those were given free tickets. HBO paid a huge amount on the license fee (Over $4m). If the Froch/Kessler rematch is a great fight and HBO are interested in a third fight I could see it being held over there.
Neither Froch or Kessler feel any need for Las Vegas. This is a boxing match - Froch and Kessler get respect from all over the world for their boxing skillls. That´s why this fight sells itself without a US-backup/US-setup/ USway of branding. US got Mayweather, Hollywood, Disneyland and SONofGod Ward in Oakland. The rest of the world got Kessler and Froch.
Coming from the bloke who thinks Frank W is going to sue me because I slag him off and take all my money? People in glass houses shouldn't throw houses. Now jog on.
