The reason for this is that the Klitschkos, without a decent opponent, can almost draw some flies to a pile of steaming ****, in the United States, if they use honey and sugarwater as well.

    Vit Klit by easy TKO.
Someone should advise Gomez to stop trash talking. This always backfires against Vitali.
But he won't so he will be beaten badly the same way Peter was.
Watch for Vitali's "Backhand Slap" after he's taken control of the fight. Same thing he did to Peter. A little backhand ***** slap. A little pay back for the trash talk.

HBO's site on fighter profiles is always at least a year or so out of date.

Gomez won not one, but two eliminator fights. Virchis as well as McCall.

So he certainly deserves this fight. And I can understand the WBC forcing Vitali to fight Gomez now. After his injuries, they were good enough to allow him to keep his emeritus status for quite a while, so they are merely making him maintain the necessary obligations that came with the belt they graciously let him have a shot to win back.

I think Gomez is a worthy opponent, given what else is out there right now. (Haye, Chag, Valuev, and not much else) And Chag and Valuev are not available/won't take a VK fight, so, Gomez will certianly do as a decent mandatory obligation. He did beat Virchis and McCall, afterall, and only has one loss on his record.

Chagaev claimed in a recent interview that if he beats Drummond he would fight either Klitschko. He might be looking to cash out if his eye problems are indeed true............

I wish that were true, but I highly doubt he'll fight either one of them. His promoter, Kohl, also said something about this some time back, but we'll see if they mean it when one of them comes calling, again.

I don't think Haye has earned a title fight either so I don't know why you threw his name in there. So, OK, Gomez beat an ancient McCall who was last seen as a legit contender a decade ago, and he beat some dude named Virchis who I've never heard of. Awesome.

It's just funny that HBO won't buy some fights because of an "unworthy" opponents, but for the fighters they're pushing hard it's ok. Wlad vs Thompson? No problem. How about Pavlik vs Locket? Why not?

    Ignorance is bliss............

Wladimir's fights aren't PPV because he doesn't want them to be. He wants his fights to be seen by as many fans as possible, this is common knowledge. You should be thanking him............not ranking on him.

His fight against Thompson wasn't boring at all & he finished him off with a nice KO to boot.

Both Thompson & Gomez earned their title fights.

If you haven't heard of Tony Thompson or Vladimir Virchis then maybe boxing isn't for you. My I recommend WWF/WWE Wrestling?

Anyone who has seen Gomez fight knows that this is gonna be much more competitive than Thompson-Wladimir was.

The first time I saw Gomez fight was when he nearly shut out Samil Sinan Sam. I don't think SSS landed a meaningful punch the entire fight. I also saw his loss against Yankme Diaz and highlights of his fights against McCall & Virchis. The dude can box but so can Vitali. Vitali can throw heavier punches & he can take heavier punches too :yep

I wouldn't say Thompson wasn't competitive vs. Wladimir either, more like outclassed.
