I think HBO is fair, but i believe they tried to bully wlad in doing what they wanted, he said NO, an they had to play this game,,,,But vitali is the suprise, they do not have him aboard, an when he had his fights on HBO he had good numbers, so i wonder what the problem is, i would like wlad to let vitali fight areola, so he will get to fight HBO house fighter on there network, that might get vitali back on HBO for the some more fights

Thats because Haye is with GBP and they wanted to try and help Haye by putting pressure on HBO about future dates if HBO didnt put pressure on Wlad to wait for Haye. Thats why HBO tried to force Wlads hand so HBO wouldnt have issues with GBP.... BULL**** moves all the way around. Once Haye said it would be 7-8 weeks not 3, HBO should have had the balls to stand up to GBP....:oops::oops:

Didn't know about GB part in it, good to know,,,but i figured HBO was playing some macho game, to bad cause wlad has a loyal fan base, an read they get good numbers for both the live fight in midday an the repeat at night,,,,Funny thing about the whole event, i am sure hayes is a popular in the US as chagaev is, an chagaev fight was a great boxing performace by wlad, an one more round, would of been a great KO,,,

Vitali did not do good numbers on HBO, aside from his fight with Lewis in June of 03. Vitali did extremely low numbers in Dec of 04 when he fought Danny Williams on PPV.

While the Klits are extremely popular in Germany, they however dont draw good numbers in the states at all. As far as HBO is concerned, you really cant blame them for not showing the Chagaev fight. They figured they wouldn't make any profit of the fight, and like most Wlad fights lately, it would turn out to be a boring one-sided affair. HBO was right in the end, the fight itself sucked and it did terrible numbers.

That is PPV that is a hole diffrent story, he gets good numbers for regular HBO, that was hbo call, an they were trying to cash in on a white heavyweight champ, it failed, keep in mind the last time there was a white guy holding the WBC, was never, they played the race game it failed.

Boring, oh yea right, a boxing clinc an a guy quiting on the stool is boring, an that hugger hatton is no doubt like strawberry an cream to you,,ha ha ha ha ha

it low numbers because ESPN only had 2 weeks to get it off the ground. Hell people I know thought it was still cancelled or not being shown in the US once HBO announced they wouldnt show it. Had the date still been on HBO the numbers would have been better. While the numbers were not great in the US, they were off the chart in Europe and across the world:deal

It is becoming increasingly obvious the stranglehold GBP has on HBO. Look at the calendar so far this year. Just about every HBO card had GBP fighters on it. The fans are missing good fights because HBO is in bed with GBP. I mean look at that hype job they put on TV last weekend who quit and then gave the most disgraceful interview I have ever heard after a fight in over 20 years of wathcing Boxing.

Thomas Hauser had a great article a while back about GBP making demands and threats with HBO in order for them to dominate what fights do and do not get shown on HBO.

The Klitschkos would be much bigger draws in the US if they had better PR here. Most Americans believe the garbage they hear from Teddy Atlas, James Toney, Bert Sugar, The Ring, Chris Byrd, Don King and many others, that the Klitschkos are just two big guys who are only winning because it's a horribly inept era for HWT boxing.

They don't consider the possibility that it could be a strong era with decent American challengers, but the reality is that the Klitschkos are just far superior and make all contenders look worse than they really are, like Tyson, Lewis, Louis, Holmes, all the great ones do.

How does Bert Sugar know who is weak? It's an insult to people like Brewster, Austin, Thompson, Ibragimov, Brock etc. to be called weak. These guys are all tough, they trained hard, they tried their best, but ran out of ideas and got beat.

Boxing is as strong as ever, but it appears that HBO would prefer something other than two Ukrainian doctors dominating HWT boxing.

Face it Vitali and Wlad are not popular in the states, where one guy fights like a robot (Vitali) and the other seen as boring and fragile (Wlad). I honestly think someone should get a personality coach for the both of them, I dont know what puts me to sleep quicker Wlad behind the mic or Wlad in the ring.

Of course there going to do great numbers in Europe, but everywhere else I would like to see the numbers, because I dont know if I believe that.

Just out of curiousity CHEF, what did better numbers Wlad/Chagaev or Vitali/Gomez?

If wlad fought his next fight in the US, it would be a sale out, i would bet on that, now i am talking a 15,000 seat place,,,in chicago, LA, newyork, lasvegas, that is in four totaly different places, hell bet even in pittsburg,,,,is he a big PPV draw, NO, but he does good numbers, an when he fights in the US, he sells out. HBO does not hand out 3 fight a year an two slots in the same day, unless your generating revenue,,,they just wanted the hayes fight, an wlad said **** You, an fought for his fans....

Maybe, but thats still 1/4 of what he does in Germany. His fight against Iggy is still fresh in many Americans minds, one of the worst Heavyweight title fights I and many others have ever seen.
