I'm fine with the rematch. As long as it's not promoted by Oscar, with his corrupt judges

This fight is not happening....by the sounds of diaz manager willie savannah....I don't blame him for doing his job for his guy....but he gives bull**** answers.....says they won't go to new york to fight paulie and they won't go to manchester to fight hatton, but ok in houston:huh.....losing respect for diaz everytime a member of his team speaks....

    Now the Facts:

    • Gale Van Hoy, a Texas judge with a history of hometown decisions in Texas.
    • A judge that apparently freaking nobody has heard of from Oklahoma, whose name is David Sutherland, for the record. Sutherland scored the fight 116-112 for Diaz, which I think is perfectly defensible. On the undercard, Sutherland gave Danny Jacobs a 100-89 clean sweep of Ishe Smith, which is completely indefensible and every bit as atrocious as Van Hoy's 118-110 Diaz card in the main event. Both of them proved their incompetence on Saturday night.
    • Caiz, a Mexican-American judge that Malignaggi accuses of being a Golden Boy ringer.
    • Referee Laurence Cole, a Texas referee with an abominable history that has no business refereeing shows at National Guard Armories, let alone championship-level fights like this one and some of the others he's mucked up.

This is another attempt to simply avoid talking about this. He does not even address the fact that Gale Van Hoy's scorecard was absolutely not correct or even defensible. Yes, judging is a matter of opinion or taste to some degree, but nobody on earth besides Van Hoy thought this fight was 10-2 in terms of rounds for Diaz. He has been called out on this not just by Malignaggi and his supporters, but by Golden Boy chief Oscar de la Hoya and freaking Juan Diaz, for God's sake. Savannah, though, doesn't touch it.

I thought that the first fight was competitive and not boring at all. I would definitely watch a rematch and I felt Paulie clearly won the 1st fight.

I feel paulie should get a fight with Urango though and take a belt. He would decision Urango very easily.

Urango is easy pickings for paulie.....Urango fought a guy just before hatton, Naoufel Ben Rabah, a slickster based out of australia, very similar to malignaggi, and some felt urango lost that fight....

Paulie took this crappy fight because no one else would pay him decently to fight. Since the loss, he's officially a club fighter. :happy

 ridiculous statement....paulie has more opportunites since his "loss" to diaz, then diaz does......who is diaz going to fight at 140? hatton? probably not, malignaggi has more name recognition at 140 then the fat lightweight juan diaz does at the moment....

diaz has very little options at this point

Whoever he wants. Juan Diaz has proven he can draw a big crowd in Houston so whoever they decide to throw his way, he can handle. He could fight Zab Judah in Houston for big money.

Maybe at 140...but Diaz is a bigger name overall. Easily a bigger name. Malignaggi isn't a big draw as his headline fights outside of "the big names" have proven.

He can fight Zab or Hatton at 140...or he can go back down to 135 and take on a plethora of fighters that GBP houses (Rolando Reyes, Vincente Escobedo, Joel Casamayor, a Katsidis rematch etc etc etc).

You are aware GBP offered malignaggi the diaz fight, based on his name? As Kellerman highlighted malignaggi was choosen because he carried enough name power which they thought also presented very little risk....

I don't think Juan Diaz is going to be facing a speedster anytime soon....diaz is going for money, that's why they called out hatton.....diaz has not be the hallmark of an elite fighter as of late....malignaggi has accomplished more at 140, and would be more of a comodity to a urango, khan, maidana, bradley, etc....and malignaggi has pulled the promotional bull by the horns since his "loss" diaz has got very little promo out of this fight....

diaz for his health and carear needs to go back to 135, fight casa or valero then go to law school, he has accomplished a lot at 135, and probably will never get his marquez rematch, which is not warranted anyways....valero will probably send diaz to law school...

The next time Max Kellerman is right on something it'll be the first time.

Diaz has drawn big crowds just about every time he's had a show in Houston. He is a name there, he's a local guy and he's a big star in the Texas region. The guy would draw in Houston if he was fighting a stuffed animal.

That's the thing he doesn't need it. Diaz can draw in Houston against anybody.

He doesn't even have to fight Valero. He can fight on GBP cards in Houston and make a killing. That's the thing.

Diaz will still be big in Houston. Paulie will still struggle to draw anywhere outside of New York.

The Houston fiasco has enhanced paulie and damanged diaz, now is that juan's fault? No....However, he must leave texas now, or nobody will take him seriously after this.....even in the fight he compltely dominated one of the judges in houston scored it for katsidis, then the paulie fiasco happened......his days of fighting in houston are numbered......

diaz might be more of draw then paulie, but to a contender, malignaggi is a better fighter to have on a resume at 140 then the unaccomplished at 140 juan diaz.....who in the record books has a win on malignaggi, but most observers and viewers paulie looked and acted like a winner, and his drama since has only added to his appeal....while diaz reputation has been hurt...

What about Connecticut- they have some nice casinos there. You also have florida... I think the ideal place is AC. Atlantic City has a huge boxing history and it is the perfect setting for what it is the A- rings for the A- shows. These aren't the superstars( your PBFs your Hattons your DLHs) These are fighters 1 or 2 steps out of Superstardom. So AC puts them at 1 step out of Vegas.... no?

I'm not saying it will be a poor showing. I for one am looking forward to this rematch!

I totally agree with your post ovarall, but the paulie-ngoudjo fight wil give team diaz second thoughts of going to atlantic city or connecticut....plus will diaz have enough guts to go to the full 140? I dont think so.....diaz has very little options IMO he can go back to 135 fight valero or casa or rematch malignaggi...this time on mostly paulie's terms
