What do you prefer. For example would you rather watch Bernard Hopkins vs Adonis Stevenson on HBO or SHOWTIME? I like the commentary on show time, but there is something about HBO. All things being equal I prefer HBO.
Showtime's Boxing broadcast team is head and shoulders above HBO's. Paulie>>>>>>>>>>>>Roy Paulie = Ward Paulie < Garcia Bernstein>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Kellerman Ranallo << Lampley Kenney = Lampley
I like theatre and big production in my boxing experiences, so HBO. But some people like glamour, and some just want the bare product with no sparkle.
Recently, Showtime has been kicking HBO's ass in terms of putting on quality fight cards and is stealing away all the talent from HBO. I'd have to say that there commentary is less biased than Lampley and Kellermann.
Are you serious? I can definitely see how you'd have a slight preference for Lampley over Kenney, but Showtime's team (overall) blows HBO out of the water. Kellerman's a good interviewer but Bernstein is simply the best there is at breaking down a fight and presenting it in an accessible manner for casual fans.
Where is Bob Sheridan. He literally shits on everyone and actually adds value to the fight and experience. He could make rigo fights feels like Gatti-Ward
He's corrupt. I've got a vhs of Lewis vs Holyfield 2 which I bought from a trader, it's the kingvision version with Sheridan commentating. To listen to him you'd think that A: Lewis wasn't even in the fight and B: Don King was the worlds greatest guy. Anyway, Showtime's better because they don't have Lampley.
More of the fights I want to see (ie a lot of the top fights at 160+) are on HBO, but other than that I don't much care about the quality of the 'product'. Both do a decent job IMO and at least don't detract from the quality of the fights, both will sometimes seem to show some bias in the commentary, but sports commentators talk so much guff anyway it ain't particularly troubling.
in the end, who really gives a **** what the play by play or the analyst or the commentator says. you have to be a novice if you do....depending on somebody else to tell you what you're looking at. if you've been watching a the sport for a while, you know what you see and don't care what anybody else say. if you're really into the fight you even find yourself tuning everybody out.
