Of course , HBO wanted to market a Mexican American Heavyweight. They probably assumed Adamek would stand and trade punches like his LHW fights, and get overwhelmed by Arreola.
Well I can see HBO's logic. They saw the Estrada fight and were unimpressed. They saw Adamek get tagged by right hands and thought Arreola's right hands would knock out the former LHW.
That are two HBO priorities in order to score high ppv buys in US market and additionally steal fans from the the MMA market .... unfortunately for Adamek he is not true HW and he is an Euro so he cannot draw a fly alone.
Seriously, Adamek would beat the **** out of Chagaev, and likely Chambers as well, I'd only favor the Klits and Haye over him the rest of these guys really can't fight, especially Chagaev.
yeah i think hbo def wanted adamek to lose, hbo just hates cruiserweights i guess. adamek wouldve sold out the prucenter in jersey and is an exciting fighter, hbo passed on adamek-cunningham ii and has been until now. they probably were hoping arreola would then take on haye and if won try wladmir.
I guess they must redefine their view on Adamek since they have no other options right now. I would be not surprised if HBO send petition for a greencard for Adamek and list him as 6'3'' in the next fights.
They really underestimated Adamek. If they had been more careful, they would have shown Adamek/Estrada to introduce Adamek to American fans. Tbh, I am so glad, that now people here started perceiving how good Adamek really is. As his big fan I know that he can be better. Despite being 33yo, Adamek still develops from fight to fight and is still learning new things. He was smart that he didnt accept fight with Wlad 20 June last year. Fight after fight he is becoming more and more competetive to the title holders. When he improves footwork and balance then its his peak.
You make good points on everything except Adamek's power. His power is a bit short to hang with any Klitschko.
With Vitlay definitely Adamek cannot force a blink on Vitalys eyes ... but with WLad he can catch Wlad and score a few KDs, Wlad's chin aint better than Golota's. Otherwise if Adamek would unload the same on Vitaly as he was able on Arreola then an easy win on cuts is highly possible
If Adamek is able to go inside with Klitschkos, then he would have a big chance to mess their faces. They are very vulnerable on cuts. Still this is big IF :think I dont remeber who was the last who went inside against Klitschkos? Was it Peter vs Wlad?
Peter is more like Arreola, the better comparison would be Brewster I with Adamek using less cheen and more movement.
Adamek walks to the center of the ring & takes a This content is protected Wlad has some nasty flashbacks & feints right there.:yep
