I am only being a hypocrite in response to your unwarranted hypocrisy!

Yes, I did say Hopkins would beat Pavlik. I didn't actually write Pavlik off because of it. I had no problem with you until you really went nuts recently!

I never said Pavlik would win. This is probably a 60-70/40-30 fight in favour of Bute. But if you think that he'll will just walk all over KP and finish him in the first few rounds, then you probably shouldn't have eaten those mushrooms.

Whatever you say, Pavlik is certainly a much better fighter than Andrade, and Andrade pushed Bute through 12 hard rounds in their first fight and Bute looked seriously shop-worn late. Pavlik can apply even more pressure than Andrade, and doesn't make half the technical mistakes. Andrade gets out of position very easily, and throws quite a lot of wild punches that leave him open for return fire. Pavlik comes in behind the jab, and sets his shots up carefully and deliberately. Only a very clumsy fighter would have walked onto the left hook Andrade did, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Pavlik isn't that fighter.

Somebody who can apply consistent, disciplined pressure like that for 12 rounds will give Bute a competitive fight at the least.

Pavlik doesn't want anything to do with Bute. Bute KOs Pavlik in 7.

It is not just Andrade's pressure that gives problems to Bute, but also the fact that he continues to go forward even if you hit him with a 4 shot combo. Pavlik goes back when he gets hit so even if he's very good to put pressure and to cut the ring, i think Bute would be able to cope with Pavlik.

Hopkins is not a punishing puncher at this stage of his career imo. Hopkins work rate wasn't has high as bute would be and Hopkins did his fair share of holding in that fight which gave the old man some time to rest, Kelly too.

Yeah, Pav and Lowe were talking knockout. I heard from his camp he was stronger b/c he didn't have to cut weight. And you are right imo. Get Mackie and build the weight properly. Pav has the frame to carry the weight and Mackie knows how to do it.

I've never had Mushrooms but I'd be willing to try.

Pavlik can not apply the type of pressure Andrade does. Andrade comes face forward, you hit him with a 3 punch combo he steps in to the punches takes them on the chin and counters with the right. pav would be rocked by those punches. Pavlik will not apply more pressure then face first Andrade.

Pav will come behind a jab and find nothing b/c Bute will have the best movement he has seen in his career. Yeah Hopkins is a master, but Bute has fresh legs and knows how to spin. His footwork plus his ability to stop on a dime and counter with hard shots would be Kelly's down fall imo. And don't kid yourself Bute has enough power to stop Pavlik cold, and if Bute were to drop and hurt him like 160 Taylor did...Bute would finish him, unlike Taylor.

122-28 in favor of Bute, 81% Bute wins the poll in an ESB landslide.

I notice a lot of Pavlik fans voted for their man but have no real plan for how there man would win.

Williams told ---- that he plans to go back down to 154 after this Saturday's bout against Sergio Martinez, being fought at 160.

"After this fight, me and [trainer/co-manager] Mr. Peterson decided that we are going to make our way back down to the low 50's," Williams said. "I would have still been fighting at 147 if I had someone to fight. They forced me out. I had Michael Jennings at number 1 [when Williams was the WBO welterweight champion] and he turned me down. I had Miguel Cotto at number 2 and he turned me down. I left [to move up in weight]. Then I turn on the TV and they are fighting for my title."

Paul Williams will return to 154, Pavlik as Bute or nothing.

As soon as Pavlik won his titles he started talking about unifying the division. Before he could move forward with that he had to give JT a rematch, and then Team Pavlik and Bob Arum made a huge mistake by allowing Slappy Joe to become a big distraction. Slappy called Kelly out about 800 times, but in the end he refused to fight, and Pav's career has suffered terribley ever since.

I still think KP should go for his original goal and unify the division. Afterward beat the **** out of the top five, ruin all the smaller men who have the guts to move up, and everytime some new young hotshot appears on the horizon, knock that mother****er out too.

Traditionally and historically middleweight has been the second most prestigious division in boxing, and I think KP could probably rule over it for the rest of his career. Right now, 160 is not very strong or exciting, but that can change in a fairly short amount of time. It is also true that Hopkins and Haglar did not rule over particularly strong divisions. That's why their best wins were over smaller men who moved up. KP can take the same approach and end up with a simlar legacy and career earnings, and Hops and Haglar certainly did alright.

If he does that then he will spend the rest of his career fighting on Top Rank PPV's at best.
