You guys defending him are all making valid points

Dawson is just missing something, he doens't have the it factor.

Dawson fought lazy, cruised at stretches, and then gave a horrible ****ing interview in which he mumbled his words and didnt really sound like he gave a **** about the fight he was in or what his future was.

And shut the hell up people with this "Tarver was crafty" crap.

There were stretches of the fight in which Dawson threw NO punches and just let Tarver fire off and catch the shots on his gloves. He did that multiple times. For no ****ing reason. Just stood there and caught punches.

I dont care how tricky his reflexes are or his hand and foot speed. A focused fighter does not take off 30 seconds of a round against a guy whose handspeed is marginal in a fight he should be dominating and is winning by double digit margins.

Yeah weight-drained Tomasz Adamek and 40 year old's Tarver and Johnson, past their primes.

He took every 3rd round off, so I can see what HBO are talking about. There job is to tell it like it is, if they notice a flaw they are gonna speak about it, it's there job and they owe it to boxing fans not to be positively bias.

Well, i'Ve said it since the beginning, Dawson is ordinary. Until he shows something special against a valid opponent, he'll remain ordinary.

Dawson is a good fighter but is tends to be on the boring side.

Unless HBO thinks they can get Hopkins, JC, or a big name from 160-168 to face Dawson then they should have passed on the Tarver rematch.

The first fight was one sided and lacked drama.

The rematch was a bit closer and better but nothing great.

And Kellerman was over critical of him in that fight.

One thing you can't complain about is Dawson's competition.

I don't know why someone would say he needs to beat valid comp :nut

Don't miss quote me Pimp. It's clearly stated when I say; Show something special fighting a valid opponent. This means, when he fights Valid opponents (Like Adamek, Taylor, Johnson) he's showing nothing special.:rasta

Beating them is not showing something special?

Nope. Something special is like Pac KOing Hatton in the second. Coasting to a decision twice against Taylor, Losing against Johnson (IMO) and winning against a weight drained Adamek is nothing special.:rasta

Man the HBO crew just can't win. They talk up a fighter and how great he is and they are accused of cheerleading and trying to build a new cash cow. They are honest about a guy that is limited and now they get **** for that too?

Nah that isnt it...I think that it has more to do with Dawson being a young gun that wins no matter what. They talk about him having a weak chin, but there is really no proof of that, and its not like he hasnt been fighting guys that can bang. I think that for whatever reason HBO is slow to give Dawson his dues.

I hear you but not all boxers are aggressive pressure fighters that go for KOs. Like I said earlier it doesn't make you any less of a fighter if you don't. Sweet Pea Whitaker wasn't a KO artist but was beautiful to watch him give his opponents fits and school them. I'm quite impressed by Dawson beating world class opposition by wide UD damn near every time out.
