See, sweet pea was at least exciting doing his job. Take B-Hop for example. He's 44 and manages to school Pavlik the way he did. That craftsmanship right there. Where Dawson seems content in coasting to victory.

You should also know that in boxing there are styles and Dawson's style is to take fighters the distance and outbox them, not scoring a KO doesn't mean he's not "special". About those two WINS, because that's what they are, he got the job done as he's supposed to and as his style allows him to, simple as that.

If it doesn't impress you then sure, stick to watching guys that impress you and styles you can understand/relate with.

    I see your point.

    I'd disagree somewhat w/ it.

Consistently beating good comp shows a lot.

Now his fights haven't always been the most exciting but they aren't bad either.

So you are telling me you are not let down at all by the last showing of Dawson?

I understand that styles make fights, but he seemed uninterested in being there. And maybe he was. Maybe he didn't want that rematch. But because of the contract, he had to. So isn't it possible he was just ... well, absent minded?

Also, how would you rate his showing against Johnson? Johnson is not an easy fighter to fight, granted. But it's exactly what I am saying. He's nothing extraordinary.

I agree with you but that's what I am trying to say. He's probably not the super star everyone was seeing at the beginning.

Johnson is a aggressive guy with great punch resistance. Even today he would give anyone at 175 hell. With that said Dawson was hurt against Johnson but he didn't go down he continued to fight Johnson and not back down he continued to engage Johnson later in the fight when many others would have simply ran or melted down under his attack. This is exactly the type of performance you like to see from a young fighter. I thought he handled himself well against a tough vet like Johnson.

I actually kind of agreed with them to some extent. I think I was over rating Chad with his last performance over Tarver. Tarver stepped it up this go round and proved that he can compete with Chad. Yea.....Chad won clearly but I was under the impression Chad would shine! He did in spots but I don't think he's the 2nd coming of a prime RJJ.

I think Chad did great personally. But I think I was expecting more and in a way was let down. not that Tarver is a cake walk...he's just very old in boxing years and Chad has a **** load of natural ability that were only on disply in spots. I think I even said in anther post that Chad is one of the closest things to a Roy Jones Jr in his prime than anyone at 175. While that still maybe the case...he's a DISTANT 2nd.

Very true. KO would have been nice but I still enjoyed the display of skills.

But hey guys.. would you ever see the fighters they cheerlead move up in weight and take on Tarver....lol. He is damn for sure a name and why did Calzaghe not gun for him after he beat Roy or Glen...These guys made names for themselves being the best at 175 when it was hot and 168 was a shitty **** shittles division when Calzaghe was on top and did not get stacked until 2008. Calzaghe can have shitty mediocre wins over guys like Bika and horrible bull**** stoppages against Manfredo(or even fight Manfredo) and its all good...lol. Chad is fighting the TOUGHEST guys from 168-175. Period. All the new cats dont have the skill nor experience and the division is exciting b/c they all are on about the same level with NONE being elite.

How can HBO not be critical when this fight was pointless from the get go. This fight does not improve Dawson's rankings, a convincing win against Glen Johnson strengthen his status.
