the commentary was actually disgusting clearly sucking canelo off because of his contract running down. dont want to lose the biggest cash cow. in doing this they totally sold golovkin out badly at least lederman has some integrity.
Hbo wasn't even remotely close to as disgraceful as some of the "fans" have been. No amount of tears gonna change the official results. game over.
You see the commentary may have been a disgrace but the 'story of the commentary' was actually a wonderful, beautiful thing.
I thought the commentary was pretty good. Harold may have been a bit high on GGG at times, and Max was certainly a bit high on Canelo during long stretches, but I thought Lampley was very even-handed, and I thought Roy consistently made the best observations of the evening.
Awful commentary, one of the worst I've seen from HBO, says a lot considering HBO commentary standards aren't exactly stellar most of the time. Rather than hearing actual analysis of the fight, the whole night was just "story of the fight", something Max mentioned in the beginning and it stuck for the rest of the fight for all three of them, except for Roy. Roy was okay but he also had some headscratcher comments. Lampley and Max completely failed at their jobs though.
Basically what I said. I think HBO also knew who was getting the W before the fight started so were trying to sell canelo all fight. They all should be fired and you're right, Ledderman didn't get the memo and first time I ever heard lampley basically insult ledderman by saying "well, for what its worth, Ledderman has GGG ahead".
Roy was trying to say GGG was running. No, canelo ran the first fight, GGG was taking small steps slowly back but staying within range and not taking 80% of several rounds off like Canelo was when he was 'running'. And biggest difference is GGG was throwing more and landing more while going backwards. Canelo wasn't when he went forward or backward.
Lampley was sucking GGG off big time. He rarely acknowledged anything that Canelo was doing through out the fight. Disgusting.
Exactly! HBO kept on harping on Golovkin's activity level and only every now and then would they mention that Canelo was landing the heavier shots. Don't know what the Golovkin nuthuggers are complaining about in this thread, HBO actually called and favored Golovkin in the fight, but at the same time covered their own ass at the end of rounds by stating, "we score the round for Golovkin, but just as easily we can see where some of the judges might have scored for Canelo." As for Lederman, he's a complete joke. 99% of the time he favors the aggressor, but this time he decides he's going to go against his own criteria and favor volume. LOL! So confused with what was going on in the fight was Lederman, at one point late in the fight when Lampley asked him for his scores he say's, "I don't have a clue Jim, the rounds are just to close." ………..my problem with that statement is, if they were that close, why did he go against the grain of his own criteria for scoring for the aggressor as he's done over 99% percent of the time he posts a scorecard???
That's what I saw. I'm no Canelo fan , but he was landing vicious body shots that hurt GGG, Golovkin landed a lot of weak jabs that no doubt scored ,but the at the end of the day one fighter received far more punishment than the other.
Thankyou! Golovkin was scoring with the jab, the problem however is that you cant theorize that Golovkin threw and landed more punches than Canelo and insinuate that case has been made for a Golovkin victory. The consistency of Golovkin's jab wasn't weak, but like you said a good chunk of them were of the gauging type where they land but to little or no effect. It was plain as day that Canelo was comfortable eating Golovkin's jab in order to counter over and under it with much meatier shots that weigh so much more in the overall scoring of the fight.
