Was the HW division so much better when Lennox was fighting in the mid to late 90s?

Golotha, Mavrovich, Grant, Botha, Akinwande, McCall? These guys didn't manage to win a single paper belt back then and wouldn't win one today.

The division was not better nor worse 15 years ago. In fact it is much much better right now than it was 5-6 years ago (terrible freakshow of Toney, Peter, Briggs, Iggy etc.)

Lewis was 38 and had nothing left to prove. Get over it.

As for Vitali, of course it's his fault. He should be knocking out some of those fighters within a few rounds. I honestly believe he's good enough to do it too but time after time he's never brave enough to take the risk.
And those fights he "lost on paper".... rubbish.
He was a better fighter than Byrd but quitting so near the finish line was awful. He could have carried on but chose not to.

We already know Lewis would beat him.

Why the hell pull the race card? The Klits could be black, white, blue or green and you still cannot get away from the fact that they do not make entertaining fights. I don't think it's coincidence that K2 cards are more like rock concerts than boxing cards. If you like that in Germany, fine but don't criticize other countries for wanting to see traditional shows with fighting in a ring.

Kudos to HBO for having some business savvy. Oh wait, I forgot, HBO is a business - and a successful one, at that - so OF COURSE they have some business savvy. It's just not sound business for HBO. That's the only reason why the Klitschkos are absent from HBO telecasts and relegated to ESPN Classic in the states.

    Tut tut. Excuses, excuses.

What about the cut across his cheek and the one on his lip.
Wow. Lewis had busy thumbs that night!

Couldn't have been because he was old and unmotivated and didn't feel like putting in the effort anymore? He was already set for life, his legacy was made, and he went out on a win. Why the **** would he want to fight again?

I love how the best "win" on Vitali's entire useless resume is a TKO6 loss to Lewis.

Hmmm? This post would make sense, if you knew anything about business. First off, HBO promotes itself as a great boxing network. But can you be a great boxing network when your refuse to show important fight? Of course not. That's why HBO is losing in the boxing rating to showtime. Here's the difference. HBO is intesting all of its supposedly scant boxing budget into its new series of 24/7 docudramas. This series helps promote HBO PPV boxing, not their regular subscription boxing broadcast. By comparision, Showtime has invested beaucoup bucks into it 360 fight series that promotes the Super Six tournament. A non- pay-per view series that they offer to their subscribes becuase they are a boxing network.

Point blank, HBO is lying. THey are diverting their exiguous boxing budget into producing shows that promote PPV fights that are not offered to their subscribers. I have no idea how subscribers have failed to notice this. A not commerical network is spending its boxing budget on commericals for Pay per view fights. :D:lol:

I wasn't talking to you, pal. If you have something constructive to add, do it. If you think I'm obnoxious, good for you. I've still forgotten more about boxing than you will ever know.
