All this means is Rigo won't be headlining or receiving the top dollar of a main attraction, it's business.

There are some interesting fights that'll be considerably more exciting for Rigo though such as a unification bout with Kiko Martinez and then Quigg. Hopefully TR puts together a Miami show with Rigo-Martinez (or even JCV) and Abril-Crawford this summer, and they do it before Rigo's contract runs out because I'm sure he'll leave TR for a different promoter.

He should try and get Shinsuke Yamanaka to challenge for his belt and travel to Japan to face him- it would be a huge event over there.

He'd also be better off cutting ties with Top Rank and getting a Miguel Cotto type situation and try and secure a fight with Leo Santa Cruz

If they can ditch the Heavyweight champion they were never going to think twice about ditching the super bantamweight one...

**** Bob and HBO. Why would they put him in there with a guy no one cares about and is a huge underdog? Best of all why the **** was it a main even with a weak undercard?
It was BS and they wanted him to flop.

You are right. But this are different times. First, boxer back then weren't making what they are making now. In order to make a lot of money the TV needs to attract blood fans, not boxing fans, because the number of blood fans are way bigger.

Also they play the nationality card. USA, Puerto Rico, Phillipines, Mexico. You see, Puerto Rico population is about 3.5 million. And about 3 million in USA with Puerto Rican blood in them. So, numbers don't look so good for PR. Now, you create a rivalry against Mexicans, who in Mexico only are more than 110 millions, now you are in business!!

USA black fighters fighting against Latinos, Asians, Europeans, etc... Always sell.
Not many Cubans out there watching fights. And that is the problem with Rigo. He needs something dramatic. An opponent who is a star. A big American or Mexican Star.

Personally, I rather watch Rigo over Floyd Jr any day!!

It doesn't help that they put a complete stale card (such as the undercard of his last fight)... in addition their love of showing poor matchmaking. The guy is a highly skilled champion and they should at least put him on the undercards of some of their other typical showcase fighter fights on BAD. Personally, I like watching Rigo.

Shaefer has pretty much closed the door on Rigo ever fighting for Goldenboy so he's pretty much stuck with Toprank.

He should be okay though, Toprank could be putting at least 5 PPV's next year so there's plenty of available spaces for him to fight on the PPV undercards as long as he's willing to fight for half the money he's got in his last two fights.

    good riddance!

erik morales switched stance and almost got knocked out just to entertain the fans. boxing as an art of not getting hit is pure bull****. rigondeaux doesn't care about the fans as long as he gets paid.

Agree, Pro boxing is about winning but also entertaining people and putting bums on seats and getting people to watch you on television.

No matter how much people think Mayweather is boring, he still always manages to fill out stadiums and sell a **** load of PPV's, unfortunately Rigo does neither.

No most people want to see punches thrown and action especially in the lower weight classes. There is no agenda against Rigo. His fights are unwatchable and boring because he doesn't throw enough punches and isn't wiling to engage.
