HBO will only approve Wlad/Haye for July 11, not interested in Chagaev as replacement

Exactly right, there is no money in Chagaev/Wlad. The Heavyweight buzz is Haye/Wlad, thats the fight the mainstream fans want to see. As well as the diehard fans, who know the prospect of an exciting fight when they see one.

Right. Something must've clicked with Haye/Wlad that HBO is pushing so hard for it. It's not like they've done oodles of market work on it (I think the canceled Povetkin fight had more adverts on it). Still though maybe the hype has caused them to want to latch onto the trash talking Haye vs the ever humble always professional Wlad?

    Possibly?

I certainly hope so. I want to see Wlad fight, don't care what network, just want to see the fight.

They can market this fight alot better if they wanted to, the extra 3 weeks can give them time to do a 24/7 type special on it. The fued is real, and they certainly have enough footage of Haye talking **** on Wlad on the internet to put together a good show. I say show highlights of their knockouts, as well their weak chin moments. Kinda market it like, " 2 heavy hitters, with suspect chins. Someones going down".

they accept wlad-rahman but turn down a fight to crown a Ring champ, possible unification of three belts at one of the biggest European fight venues in recent history. Are they taking the **** at HBO or does Adam Booth have some dirt on Ross Greenberg? :think

To be fair the last few fights on HBO featuring Wlad have been televisied Ambien. Can't blame them for wanting to pass again.

Right I mean that's all you really need to market. Two heavy hitters with questionable chins. Two big bombers will ALWAYS sell.

Add in the ever distinct clash of personalities (the always humble Wlad and the always talking Haye) and that's more money. Hell you don't even have to go out and push for the whole "Hatton lost, David Haye carries the british boxing world now" angle as well.

There are quite a few intriguing avenues to pursue here.

My guess is HBO expected a quick and brutal KO of The Rock and instead got a disinterested Wlad trying to (half heartidly) KO a happy to be there and happy to cash in Rahman.

Yeah, you guys are persuading me. If I worked at HBO I'd be on this right away!
