That's my guess. From the info in this article. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blo...-wladimir-klitschko-injury-withdrawal-rumours "Even if Klitschko agrees to fight Haye on 11 July, there is the small matter of persuading HBO, the biggest force in boxing, to reschedule their programmes for that night – the same night Floyd Mayweather Jr makes his comeback for them against Juan Manuel Márquez. If they do a trans-Atlantic double-header, HBO would want Haye-Klitschko to run straight into Mayweather-Márquez – which starts at 5am German time. Will the promoters be able to persuade 65,000 fans that a post-midnight fight at the Veltins Arena, which is nestled in the distant woods of Gelsenkirchen, is an attractive proposition? Maybe not. Setanta (providing they are still in business) and RTL, the German TV partner, might not be crazy about the idea, either." Edit: I really have no interest at all in Mayweather (way too cocky for me), so I assumed the facts to be correct in this article....but it looks like the Mayweather fight is actually the NEXT weekend, the 18th, not the 11th as this article states.
The Mayweather-Marquez fight will start at 5am German time, presuming they have an undercard it would start at 3am. EDIT: BigReg is right it's not even the same weekend.
Haye has missed the boat, plain and simple. Too many things are focused on June 20th to change it now.
Move on to next fight....let Haye fight a top 10 opponent in the mean time. Vlad tried and wanted this fight but I guess it is not ment to be. Chagaev or Areola should be ready to fill in. I think Areola can only be an exciting fight....Chris comes to do WAR...RUSLIN is a hard punching southpaw but tactical.....Haye can fight a top guy in July if he is ready and possibly get a shot next year....I feel bad for the British fans who are great fans but I guess the fight is not ment right now
I read the article this morning and thought the date for Mayweather-Marquez was wrong. So I guess HBO could still do it on July 11th.
That is correct and it would drive the afternoon fight in North America but would hurt the "prime time" slot which is a much more important audience due to more people relaxing at home in the evening than during the day.
You know I'm bummed that with Haye backing out, I won't be able to win the avatar bet I had against you....but that pic is hilarious.
