Well I thought the plan was right to a point and he wasn't going to go to war in the 1st half of the fight if he was boxing to a plan was he.He was trying to deliver full blooded shots when he did reply in the early rounds and maybe he would have gone to war in the later rounds had he still been in there.
I knew Stevenson punches hard and fast, what surprised me is how hard he was to hit.Anyway Tony tried his best and the guy was a bit too good.
Some of the replies on this thread are ****ing pitifull.

A worrying number of people on here have obvious difficulty in telling the difference between the truth and pre fight hype.Bellew went to Canada, gave it a go with a sensible game plan...it didn't come off better kid won on night.....end of.I don't get where this level of bitter personal animosity in some quarters comes from?

It's a shame imbeciles like Lirva stop proffessional boxers posting on here. Pathetic really slating someone who has just fought against possibly the best LHW out there at the moment for a world title. Pathetic how quick we are to slate our fighters.

Actually I thought he did do alright for a few rounds and was making Stevenson miss, problem was he didnt punish those misses, he tagged him with a few decent shots but he just wasnt good enough.

I dont see why people have to be so negative, yes he was running and he was making him miss that was his game plan, it wasnt workng well enough so IMO he shouldhave just got stuck in and gave it a good go.

He didnt he lost to a good champion, no disgrace to that, yes he didnt back up what he said because he couldnt, again no disgrace in that.

Far too much negativity and lack of respect for what has been achieved and what was done well, everyone is far too quick to say how poor it was.

He may be able to nick another title he may only be Euro level..again no disgrace in that.

Considering the odds of 1/9 relative speaking I thought Bellew started ok. He had his plan to circle away from the left had and then counter. After a few rounds Stevenson worked out Bellew and his plan. Using his speed Adonis landed some sweet straight lefts. After a couple of rounds of hard punches the cumulative effects of these wore down Bellew's punch resistance. Up to the stoppage he had eaten some big shots and held up well.

Bellew let the tempo of the fight get too slow which allowed Stevenson to relax and pick his shots in comfort. Bellew could have dictated the pace more especially if his game plan was to get the better of the second half of the fight.

All in all though Bellew did well to last 6 rounds against a p4p fighter who is one of the biggest hitters in any division.

Bellew will be back, he has a point to prove. Another fight with Cleverly for a strap at cruiser might be on the cards.

HBO might feed Bellew to Kovalev if the other 175 pounders are tied up. If you thought Bellew was running vs Stevenson,he would be SPRINTING vs Kovalev. Not before the typical "I'll leave yer unconscious!!" pre fight bull**** of course

There's no crime in being outclassed. Bellew tried his best, he had the right tactics, but he couldn't execute them. Don't get all the hate. We should support our boxers.

As for those who troll and stalk professional boxers, forcing them off this site, what sad, pathetic, attention-seeking human beings they are.

Supporting a fighter purely because hes from the same country as you is ******ed. Bellew was fighting, not england playing football vs canada. Boxing is an individual sport.

Bellew is awful to watch, I'm not gonna slate his performance on Saturday because the fight was a mismatch but whenever I watch him he bores the absolute shite out of me. His trash talking is far more entertaining than his fights.

What was wrong with the performance  The tactics were clearly to box on the back foot and stay away from Stevenson and try and catch him in bursts, it worked (slightly) on a couple of occasions, if Stevenson hadn't have been so hard to hit,the plan would have worked and Bellew could have had more success, but Stevenson ticked another box that nobody had answers for, unfortunately for Tony, Stevenson hits too hard and he got caught. He took some good shots and boxed to a gameplan which could have beaten Stevenson if he couldn't deal with it, but he could.
