If rumours are true that Maidana wants 1million dollars then why not. For those not aware Khan gets a guaranteed 1.25million dollars for each fight as part of his 3 fight deal with GBP. With the mallignaggi fight, HBO's offer wasnt high enough to pay host the event, pay Mallignaggi and get Khan his gaurantee.

And now its happening again.. HBO make an offer that's not enough and rather than Team Khan getting less than their 1.25million, they think that the route is for Maidana to take even less of a cut, when he's the bigger name in the states already. Perhaps Team Khan is justified as they are asking for what they were contractually told they'd get, but to act outraged in the press that Maidana wants 1million dollars I think is poor.

It must **** off HBO a lot the way GBP has made this deal with Khan, I think it was a major misjudgement . I can only assume they saw the fanantical support Ricky Hatton got and the PPV numbers he was achieveing and assumed this would carry over onto Khan just because he's British, when in fact Hattons appeal was that somehow via his Mancity thing and his attitude he made a crossover between boxing and the UK football culture, so you had thousands upon thousands who knew absolutely nothing of value about boxing, but would go see Hatton fight get the PPV and when boozed up all became experts on this last fight

Actually scrap the above as motivation, whilst scan reading it for errors I remembered reading that Khan takes all UK PPV revenue from SKY directly, giving HBO none of that market, so they must be assuming he was going to generate that in the states through becoming a huge name
