Ever since Khan retired, I've heard people praise him by saying, "he didn't duck anybody!", as if fighters deserve praise for doing what they're supposed to do and fight everyone. To me, "he didn't duck anybody", at least in Khan's case, seems to be a nice way of saying, "He lost all his big fights".
It means he wasnt a ***** despite his china chin. Say what you want about the guy but he had heart. Same with dlh or Pac for example.
OK, but I don't think a fighter should get credit for LOSING a fight, like Khan does for fighting Canelo. At least Pacquiao WON most of his big fights.
I have never seen a fighter outsized like Khan was against Canelo in the lower weights. There must have been 20lbs+ between them on the night.
That's Canelo fo you, that was back in his weight bully days, when he pretended he had to grow into the middleweight division to buy 16 months of extra time before fighting GGG for the first time. Canelo is finally fighting guys his own size.
And it isn't even true. He ducked Brook for years on end, and only finally fought him when both were truly past it and didn't matter anymore.
Let's not forget the fact that Khan avoided anyone with even DECENT punching power for years after losing to Garcia.
It's only highly praised because of this watered down era. I gave Kell Brook credit for fighting Spence after GGG, but I don't harp on it. He still lost. Not ducking anyone is simply a glorified moral victory. Plenty of journeymen have stacked resumes fighting the best fighters (in history), it's not like they're deserve an absurd amount of praise for losing.
