Nah he thought he was getting a big payday fight against Floyd so said he wouldn't face Bradley as it didn't make sense.
No one has said they should get praise for it only that they should get credit. You can’t knock someone for trying to go beyond their abilities. Did they lose, yes. But they did try. People slag Jeff Lacy for his loss to Calzaghe it I respect that he actually tried and went to another country to do it. Am a I saying he’s deserving of the hall of fame for it? Of course not. Im just acknowledging that he took a huge gamble. Same with all fighters who come to the United States to try and win titles. Same with Haney going to Australia. Those are harder than usual circumstances.
I thought it was the other way round? Didn't Golden Boy repeatedly offer Bradley the Khan fight in 2011 but Bradley declined as he was waiting out the contract for his promoter Gary Shaw to expire, which is why he didn't fight for 10 months in 2011. Khan instead unified with Judah as he couldn't convince Bradley to take the fight.
I stand corrected. I could’ve swore it was in the US and that Joe had finally fought outside of Europe and made a big statement by dominating an American star in America
I don't know, tbh I didn't like Khan back then so it's a possibility I was just biased, but I'm sure it was Khan ducking Bradley.
How am I the problem. I never said anything close to hyping Khan. I rarely hype guys. I make my fight predictions and give my reasons why I feel that way based on how a fighter performed in the past. As fans, we can't critisize a fighter for not fighting the tough fights and challenge themselves and when they do just that, critisize them for struggling or losing. You realize there is an article out there stating that Canelo is over the hill? 3 weeks ago there was debate whether Canelo was the greatest Mexican fighter ever(don't agree) and considered by many the #1 P4P in the world. Now he's shot, just like that. Because of this attitude by the fans, I understand the reluctance fighters have to risk their 0. I don't like it, but when fans turn on them after 1 loss, I get it. So, it is refreshing that a guy puts all that aside and goes for the tough fights. Khan did that. People critisizing him for stepping up and losing says more about them than the fans praising him.
It's called fan appreciation. Someone taking a risk when they don't need to, just to challenge themselves, gets my respect. I see your point tho, and if the sport was set up the correct way, fighters would be fighting the best to get to the top. It would be common place. Now, there are 4 champs in a division. Guys get belts without facing the best. Guys become millionaires before they fight for a title. And because of these things I respect the guys that choose to take the hard road to the top. These guys need to be supported even when they lose trying for greatness. maybe moreso.
