About even. The difference is Cotto has achieved as much as Calzaghe in about 75% of the number of fights. Joe extended his title reign with about 10 fights that were merely padding his unbeaten record and not really worthy of the designation 'world title fight'. A couple more good wins (and even a competitive loss at the elite level) and Cotto's career will be the greater one.

Hopkins was coming off two wins over pound for pounders in Tarver and Wright. Mosley was coming off inactivity and Collazo.

Mosley fought Cotto to a razor thin decision then looked like **** against Mayorga. Whereas Hopkins then annihilated Pavlik.

And Margarito was never remotely elite. It was a good win, but he was getting waaay overrated off of beating Cotto.

 

Yeah that happens a lot when someone has a big win. Although Paul Williams is good i think the same is happening to him now.

 

you're not serious, are you? i'm not a fan of calslappy but you have to admit that lacy was an overwhelming favourite at the time and thought to be the next dominant thing.

zab probably recovered some after his chicken dance loss to tszyu, but he had already lost to pbf and ****ing ...(can't even remember that slow ****er's name)..baldomir! so cotto had a backlog of strategies to beat zab.

calslappy on the other hand faced a lacy who didn't know how to lose yet and that was a pretty impressive performance even for calslappy haters.

 

At the moment JOe, but im pretty sure COtto (superior boxer superior technique) will take over, though Cotto will end up below Felix Trinidad.

I would rank Calzaghe no:11/12 fighter of the past 15 years.

Calzaghe would N E V E R lose to a rather crude fighter like Margo. Just no way. Calzaghe has never shown the kind of weakness that Cotto has and Bika in all honesty is probably just as tough as Margo, but Calzaghe would have an absolute field day against someone as crude as Margo.

P4P Calzaghe beats Cotto 9 out of 9 times, and in terms of resume Calzaghe still outshines Cotto (although not by as much as he ought to gien his talent).

Just as we don't know most of Joe's opponents, they don't know most of Cotto's opponents over there. For some reason, many americans are very naive and think only the things the american media show them are good. Joe Calzaghe had a respectable career. Not a KO artist but a good fighter.

I honestly hope Cotto can finish his career in a respectable manner just like Joe did. I am not talking about winning and losing fights. I am talking about doing the right thing. I think Cotto have a couple of years more two go befora we can talk about his career
