He has a better resume out of Cotto and Calzaghe?

shane & bhop is like 3 & 4 on the p4p charts... plus bhop older than shane
kessler & mal should be the ones who are compared... they are both top rated guys in their respective division but not p4p'ers

eubank is an older guy who was respected but OLD... kinda like chop chop
sheika is bunz... torres is not bunz & he was over rated when cotto won
... i forgot who i put quintana with but...

 

Sad that the poll is even close. Not sad that the fans voted it close, but sad that Calzaghe level of comp was so low for so long.

In his own words after the fight with Jones, Joe said that my last four fights out did my entire career. That is really sad being that Jones and Hopkins were an average age of 41, and Kessler and Lacy were vastly over rated. I guess the jury is still out on Kessler abit, but he is running out of time.

cotto for his part is really just now entering his prime, and barring another beat down at the hands of Clottey he will surpass Calzaghe by the end of 2010 and would have just turned 30.

Calzaghe has beaten two on that list and Hopkins is ahead of Cotto's best win, and Kessler being #20 is lower than most people would put him. On Boxrec's forum P4P list Kessler is #14 and most lists we have on ESB (which usually has a Latino bias) Kessler is also around there.

Clottey will probably be Cotto's 2. best win, but it will still be a worse win that Calzaghe's Hopkins and Kessler. Eubank is actually also better than anyone Cotto has beaten other than Mosley. Malignaggi for example proved a fragile little guy who couldn't really handle it at the top. We already knew that about pot-head Zab. Kessler and Hopkins on the other hand lost but are now clearly no. 1 in their divisions.

 

Calzaghe at the moment..cotto will take over soon though

Cotto has been a 2 division champ. beaten excelelnt comp.

Cottos win vs Mosley is better than Calzaghes win vs Hopkins.

Mosley is still an offensive force, Cotto was also more convining with his boxing ability in that fight.

Calzaghe just whaled away with those Steven Segal moves hoping to hit something. Calzaghe was dropped by a 43 year old.

Come off it! You know what the States are like for hyping fighters up (Jeff Lacy anyone - he hadn't fought the depth of comp that Kessler had). If Andre Ward or someone came along and had cleaned up Mundine, Andrade and Beyer in consecutive fights we'd never hear the end of it!

Lacy was hyped by a glorified ESPN (Showtime) it was there only name.

Calzaghe was winning in a very poor division at the time, he needed an a credible opponent they got LACY made him out to be a KO artist after he beat a 35 yr old REID and 38 yr Old pembertom (they forgot he almost lost to Journeyman Sheika).


Kessler beat Mundine who had been KOD by Julian Jackson clone Otke, Mundine who is have a trilogy comparable to BArrera Morales with SAM SOLIMAN!!!

Please dont even mention Beyer who was 35 shot to pieces and **** anyway.

Andrade has proven himself to be the Wayne Mccoulogh of the division, at best a gatekeeper.

COTTO was beaten ANDRADED(NDOUS) years ago

Names that you have mentioned like Otkay Urkal (successful at European title, beaten every time he stepped up higher than that), Kelson Pinto (never beat anyone at all, lost to a 42 year old Vince Phillips then retired), Abdulaev (no wins against anyone of consequence before losing to Cotto, losing to Kotelnik and retiring) , Branco (padded record in Italy, lost everytime he fought above European title level) are not any more illustrious than Pudwill, Thornberry ot Starie.
