when no one is ever held accountable, meaning judges why keep blaming the promoter? its kind of a lame generic way to ***** about something. "**** arum, **** king" . ok, maybe those same judges do a better job next time they judge a big time fight...oh wait...maybe if the boxing world paid attention to these **** judges, the fighters would sign contracts until refs with a decent resume and no overwhelming controversy are gonna be residing.... but everyone is worried about "takin more tests"

boxing gives 2 tests per fight with drug testing for the high profile big guns, now people want 3 tests

but they let clowns officiate as refs like the molina fight and horrible judges who watched something different than everyone else that never get graded or "tested" nor punished overlooking all these big time fights and ppvs
indeed a joke

Man people need to figure out how this sport works. When a promoter is preparing a bigtime promotion where he's paying each fighter millions of dollars to fight eachother. He advances each guys anywhere from 70k to 200k, the minute they sign for the fight so they can pay their team, train, and as a reward for agreeing to fight. Then he goes out and rents the MMG Grand ballroom or the Mandile Bay Events center or the Hard rock or whatever....there's another 250-500k down. Then the promoter drops about 100k into orgnaizing the press conference and doing the initial promotions for the fight. So when a guy like Gamboa walks out on a with Rios the promoter has already spent anywhere from 500k to 750k.

Now in boxing the same as in anything (government, news, industry...whatever) the people on the inside know and understand the realities of their bussiness better thent he public. And often there are truths that they keep from the public because they would be either difficult to explain or because they wouldn't be popular.

Everyone in boxing knows that TR is on the hook for like 600k. Plus his plan of creating a mega star from a mega fight will have to wait for another day. Bob Arum is one of the old boys in the sport. The old boys in the sport look out for one another. So Bob shows up with his plans screwed up and a 600k hit and says hey guys how we gonna sort this out. And the old boys say don't worry bob this is an unfornate situation, we got your back on this one. Everyone in boxing knows that Bob is in a position where has to bring in a fighter who is all wrong for Rios, who isn't marketable, and who his house fighter hasn't really had that much time to prepare for. They also know that makes boxing is not the best fighters fighting each other. Its the most exciting fighters fighting eachother. So when a top promoter like bob arum is left in a position where they are going to lose money, where they have had to put their house fighter in against a guy who is a bad style match-up for the house figher, and that house fighter is losing a fight they know its their job is to give Rios and Arum a pass.

 

Trust me dude Arum's not putting the Mob to shame. He's their business partner.

That farce was a disgrace to Boxing. Abril got jobbed worse than Lara against Williams. On a side note, it is painfully obvious that Abril has the typical Cuban Glass Jaw. He has no Chin. None.

 

exactly, and it's all essentially unspoken. No wads of money need be exchanged. The judges simply know what's in everybody's best financial interests (including their own, if they'd like to be hired back).

Hey maybe money does get exchanged. But that doesn't explain why media outlets and fighter reporters do a little whinying but for the most part don't stir up a big fuss. Garuanteed Fightnews has something about Abril being "awkward" but Rios out working him in the later rounds or something. **** you know the story. Some reporter is already inserting the names into the template right now. Point is the world is more complicated then guys in black standing in dark allies paying corrupt officials with wads of unmarked bills stuffed into envelopes.
