    he lacks the discipline, freddy.

Without that, he isn't going anywhere, no matter who trains him.

No. The boy is lazy and if you bring him to Florida with more fly latina's, cuban cigars, and sticky just as good as it is in the westcoast, he's going to be even more lazy and might even become an addict

Take your emotional love bias away from the equation, he "looked" good because serg is an even bigger warrior than him and let him look good. Serg could've easily fought the same way he did the first 11 rounds and cruise to a victory, but instead, still went toe to toe even when he was dazed. Jr. says he was holding on but Serg wasn't holding or running, he bossed up and Jr. couldn't get the job done.

come on...that's like saying chavez jr let sergio win....if chavez would've done in the 1st what he did in the 12th, it would've ended in 5

Hell na man theres no place like cali bro
    Women, weed, weather!
But im not sure hes lazy but more confident an that showed in his training or lack thrre of. He wasnt the same fighter that fought zibik, i think he lost that fight, that fought hard every second of every round wearing him down late. Too cocky an maybe, like most us youngsters need, this whippinwill wake his ass up an hell realize boxing is a sport you dont play. Its physically and mentally demanding and if you play with it youll end up with a broken face.

No again. Bu who's fault is that then. It's Jr.'s lazy ass who should've got things rolling, Freddy told him to and he didn't. Round 1 he looked like a zombie and didn't know wtf to do. He continued that pretty much till the 10th round. What's funny is you don't see Jr. trying to do what he did in all of the rounds, but Serg was too fast and he couldn't catch him. It was like watching poochiao/margarito all over again.

He does have the power, heart and chin, but has no work ethic. It's not surprising, he's never had to do anything he didn't want to do.
Most of us have had to work from an early age, be formatted to a schedule, go to work or be on the street. This kid has none of that, and it shows.
For being a man of 26 years old, he certainly seems like he's about 12 mentally. What he considers hard work is not what most other top fighters would consider hard work.
Now it looks like he's facing a certain year suspension as well for just being stupid. Testing positive for pot means he was smoking it at least a month before the fight, which is right in the middle of camp. I don't care if the guy smokes some grass, but when you're training for the biggest fight of your life it just shows the lack of discipline and dedication. Given the fact he had a DUI before a fight, and tested positive for a diuretic in 2009 just shows he's not making the right choices at all. And too many of these things are starting to add up.
He still has time to pull it together, and I hope he does. But I'm really beginning to doubt it. He just seems to be too lazy and spoiled and doesn't seem to understand the consequences of his actions, or just doesn't care.

I just think he needs to learn. Like I said in another thread, he's still learning and still a novice. How many other fighters are up against one of the best in the world after boxing less than 250 rounds in their entire life? He's green and he needs to improve several aspects of his game.

He does have raw potential though. I think Roach is the best trainer for him, though his dad should play a bigger role. Chavez Sr. was immense at cutting the ring off, which would have made a big difference against Martinez if Jr. had picked more up off his dad.
