On topic: a new trainer will only help Jr. if he buys in and follows the trainer's instructions. As of right now, he's s kid who likes to fight, not a true professional.

I don't care who the trainer is, until Jr. decides to be a professional, he will stay at this level. Considering he is young, rich, and famous I don't think he sees a huge need to change.

The guy lacks discipline and that will always haunt him.

You're overestimating him. He had 11 rounds to do it ,but couldn't. At 37 years of age and after his workrate for 11 rounds, on top of his broken hand, realistically anybody could of knocked him down.

Not necessarily. Young men tend to set out to conquer the world on their own terms then grow up when they face set backs. That's the story in my life as well as most of my friends'.

Jr. might very well decide he wants an enduring legacy rather than just mounds of cash and fame. He wouldn't be the first athlete to be humbled and come back stronger.

I'm not saying it is likely, but he is far too young to write off.

i agree dude has a lot of potential an still would be hell for any middleweight. Nobody else at the division can do what maravilla did to him an then take his best punches an fire back.

Young man? The dude is 26 with almost 50 fights. It's not like he is Vargas at 20 or 21 with problems during training camps.

He just doesn't have discipline. Enough with the excuses.

Now you are using wouldves, could've and should've. :D Chavez didn't because it wasn't easy for him. It's boxing and he caught a tired Sergio with a good shot and still had 90 sec to finish the job and couldn't do it.

What Jr needs is a Don Pedro not Pedro Diaz. :hey

He was half decent for thirty seconds against a guy who'd decided to trade a bit instead of just continuing to box rings around Jr. It was hardly the second coming. Maybe the loss will help him; help him realise he has to train seriously and stop relying on his size alone.
