No proof apart from every common opponent including Ron Lyle, Jimmy Young, Ken Norton and Muhammad Ali all going for Shavers. What would they know compared to you tho?

    Facts?

    Foreman 90-91? Oh dear.

Yeah Jimmy Young was interviewed many years ago and asked to rank the hardest hitters he ever faced in order. This is what he came up with.

    1. Earnie Shavers
    2. George Foreman
    3. Gerry C00ney.

Very true Goo, Ali, Lyle and Norton all put Shavers at the top too. It's not rocket science when you have names of that quality unaminously endorsing Shavers.

He wasn't the greatest of fighters but boy could he whallop.

Liston is not an easy guy to figure out. Werpner, who fought Liston and Foreman, says that Liston was better. That doesn't really mean much. Things that make him an enigma are the fact that he was already past his prime in the two dubois Ali fights, Machen went the distance and was never hurt in that bout, Marty Marshall, a light heavy, beat him and his best wins, against Patterson, may well be all about styles. It's true that the matrix-like media creates what we perceive to be reality, to some extent, and not just about boxing.

Agreed. I'm not necessarily sold on the fact that he's the "undisputed" hardest puncher of all time as there have been so many, including quite a few big men who followed later on.. And power is a difficult thing to guage between fighters. But he certainly makes the upper echelon regardless of what one thinks of him.

People didn't awe at Liston because of his size. They were in awe because of his opponents reacted to his punches.

Even if the guys he fought we smaller, they shouldn't have been swinging around the ring from Listons punches the way they were.

Once people respected his power and boxing ability, then his physique became impressive. It's not like a 6 foot man with muscles was a novel idea in the 60's. Liston just had rediculous punches.

Very true. Wayne Bethea was about the same size as Liston when they fought and he was notoriously tough. Sonny handed him his only stoppage in 50 fights and did it in one round. Patterson was quite a bit smaller, but an ATG in his prime. We all know what happened. Gerard Zech was a very large man and decent fringe guy. Sonny despite being past it, beat him somewhat easily.

I listed the weights of Prime listón and he was slow as **** at 218 and over weight.he weighed 198-212 in his Prime. being 204 very usual in his career it means that he felt himself pretty well at that weight

Like i told you... words are not facts, and yes,old foreman 90-91(not too old) was a natural big puncher with extra mass, sure he did hit harder in a machine of power punch

I'd say 212 was his optimum weight.

He weighed 212 pounds just in 2 fights in his Prime age,and weighed 201,204,in much more fights.if you make an average weight 208 could be right

"Machen went the distance and was never hurt".
    He was also clearly beaten.
