The ref should have let them fight on to at least let Ward win with a KO blow... this just negates his win... standing 8 or a knockdown 10 count of something... not to wave off the fight .... sucks
Ward from the first round seemed to want to push the issue. Kov holding and clinching weakened him. Wards right hand was magic tonight. Wards body shots finished the deal.
Yeah I kinda wanted to see Kov get really KTFO but I'll take it. I mean it was good enough for me, to see Kov be that hurt he was gonna get stopped. He couldn't take too many more of those. He was hurt badly. Weeks may have saved his career by stepping in there. In fairness I thought Weeks should have gave him a count as the ropes were holding Kov up. Either way, Kov was in serious trouble and just seeing him in that kind of trouble was unbelievable.
You could see Ward was physically better in this fight than the first. He had that bounce to his legs. I thought he was on a quick decline but he appears to be back in top form.
I was 100% for Kovalev and the stoppage wasn't so great but I'm sorry he kicked Kovalevs ass. He was supposed to go in there and end Ward. He gassed and got cracked and pounded. Very disappointing but Ward is obviously no joke.
The only questionable shot was the last one and that was when Kova was already bent into submission like a little girl. He didn't want to be there anymore, you know it and I know it. That right hand to the jaw made Kova fold like a lawn chair so he then proceeds to bend over for his pappy Ward and got stopped LOOOL.
Kov had no hooks at all. Roy Jones Jr was so on point tonight. Even on Rigo's after the bell knockout. Mr left Kov right got exposed badly. Not exposed as a fighter. His style was exposed. He couldn't fight inside and he has no hooks. Kov's style completely broken by Ward.
It was a questionably low blow, that most time would be called low. But not all the time. Ward got the benefit of the doubt on this shot. Bit of a mental breakdown from Kovalev, who bent over from the shot but should have taken a knee cause he was fit to continue.
Kovalev was a difficult position to win tonight. He could either throw a lot of punches and then gas out. Or fight at a slow pace and get outworked. He was actually outworking Ward, but paid the price and gassed.
