Just leave it, he was counted out simple as that. You don't have to make it into a bigger deal then it is.
It was a robbery. Gatti climbed up at 9 against Ward and he was in pain with that body shot. Scott was just takin the count after being hit on the top of the head.. he was fine. Disgracefull.
So its a good decision to stop a fight at 9.5? That stoppage stunk. Its simple, he was up before the ten count was complete. He was cheated, he didn't bottle anything.
How can you rob someone of what they're so willing to give away themselves? Malik's no idiot, and he knows what he's doing. It was an easy way out. And by doing it this way, there's still the possibility of a rematch because enough people, like yourself, will think that it was simply just another case of a traveling fighter getting screwed.
maybe he wanted an easy way out but the possiblity of a rematch is close to zero. agree that its maliks fault for not getting up prior to nine in a foreign country against the house fighter.
"15. LEGAL KNOCKDOWN When a boxer is struck by a legal blow(s) and goes down, the Referee will command “Down!” and signal by pointing to the canvas. A boxer is deemed downed if when struck by a legal blow(s): (i) any part other than the soles of his feet touch the canvas, (ii) if he is hanging helplessly on the ropes, (iii) if only the ropes prevent him from being knocked down. The boxer is to be considered to still be in a downed position when rising from a knockdown." From the Unified Rules.
Saw 2 replays on youtube earlier this morning. While I agree MS should have risen a bit faster, that was a rather quick count and it seems he was counted out unfairly. I'll watch it again but the ref goes from 8... to waving his hands faster than 2 seconds. Maybe Scott was looking for a way out, or was too cute trying to max out clearing his head :think Most likely Chisora would have won, but that's not a given. By counting out Scott like that the ref made it 100% a Del Boy win. This also illustrates the difference between a boxer that's been in the ring - even in losing - with many of the top HWs vs one that mostly has a padded record
Everyodys who is blaiming the ref should redirect it at Scott instead. The ref can only judge what happends and not how he Think the boxer is. Scott was down until the 9 when he started to rise and didnt get up in time for the 10th. Thats OUT even if he looks healthy and fit. Malik should know this as a professional and he probably does. He probably wanted out OR he actually was so shaken that he couldnt Count or Think straight and then he also should be counted out. Sad way to end a match and i rather see Scott, who quit, never standing in a ring again than the ref who only did his job.
maybe just trying to be classy.or maybe he was happy he got an easy way out..but fact reamins it was an anti climax and it was a mixture of scott and the refs fault
i've timed it and Malik was actually down for 11 seconds. he got one more second than he should have. legit KO. go and see for yourself.
if you've watched on YT, then you'll be able to clearly see that Malik was down for 11 seconds. watch the time count down on the video when Malik goes down, it's 11 seconds. :deal
