For those of you who box with a slanted stance: Where do your coaches/trainers advise you to place your head? My shoulders are turned where my chest would face 2 o'clock. Do you turn your head fully so it's facing front (12 o'clock), or do you more use your vision with the side of your head to keep it hidden with the shoulder? It just seems when the shoulder tucks it, I only use one eye for clear vision (since both eyes are not "square" looking directly ahead).
My stance was just as you described and my head was looking straight at my opponent. I just kept my chin tucked toward my chest to offer it some protection. Everybody knows it's the punch you don't see that gets you in trouble, so no sense in depending on one eye or peripheral vision to see it on its way. But, you have to do what works for you and if you are more comfortable with your one eye defense, go for it.
I'm trying to work on keeping my chin tucked better (i use a slanted stance), but i feel that if i turn my head isnt directly looking forward, it would be harder to pick up a looping right or overhand right.
If the Head is more than 15 degrees of centre, side or down, youre Bio mechanically, of Balance. Worth thinking about .
