Punching mechanics have all but collapsed in modern training retinues. Fighters are absolutely getting worse, because trainers are getting worse, and have, by and large, stopped teaching that which matters. There is a reason a small handful seem to be an insurmountable step above.
One thing we definitely agree on is Carl Froch...his attitude to boxing is exemplary and if every boxer wa like him then the sport would be in a much better way than it i today....he is definitely to be admired for fighting anyone, anywhere, anytime. Actually to be fair that is one thing that definitely has not improved...the way fighters now a days duck other fighters and just cherry pick their fights. Yeah i loved Naz too although i was too dumb at the time and wrote him off as another over hyped British fighter...i only came to appreciate him retrospectively...,one of my favorites along with Lloyd Honeghan....again fighters who would fight anyone, anywhere and any time. Both Naz and Honeyghan fought with more "US" styles for want of a better phrase.
You need to bone up on Harry Greb, Sam Langford and Henry Armstrong. Sorry, but those three transcend and defeat any era. It is not they that should prove themselves to this era, but exactly the opposite.
I can only just recently say that I'd even qualify as seasoned under their standard; And I have a veritable bevy of fights. That says it ALL.
What the **** atsch Are you kidding me Joe Louis would get beaten by a mediocre heavyweight today ?! How would you even think that.
