And isn't Ortiz the guy twice beaten by an utter fraud in Deontay Wilder?

And what good does it do to cite fights that guys had when they were past it, with the exception of Sanders-Tubbs, when we know he hated boxing and only sporadically trained?

Wouldn't even be top 5 in regards to best southpaw heavyweights.

No. Moorer, Sanders, and Usyk all should beat him and have had better accomplishments than Ortiz. Ortiz isn't bad but let's not pretend like hes beaten anyone relevant besides Jennings years ago.

Calling him a contender is, itself, overrating him (ironically).

On resume, he's a gatekeeper IMHO... And he's done sod all to prove otherwise.

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought obvious troll is obvious.
But to my dismay, upon closer inspection, I have observed this not to be the case.
All that's left is for me to do is echo everyone else's sentiments in saying OP has somehow managed to overlook a number of better candidates.
Off the top of my head I offer up Usyk, Moorer, Sanders, Byrd and Chagaev
If he'd managed to stop Wilder and then go on to make a title defence or two then I'd rate Ortiz higher but the fact is he tried twice and failed each time.

    Shut up you fool.

Chris Byrd dropped back to LHW to fight George!

He was completely finished with no energy or punch resistance.

Why would you even mention that?

Why would you mention a non HW fight?

    That was Byrd’s penultimate fight.

The last fight of his career is where he bulked back up by 20 pounds to go back up to HW.

What a stupid comment to make.

Byrd and Usyk are clearly better. Fury in southpaw would beat Old Man Ortiz as well.

H2H Sanders would have a good chance of knocking him out.

I forgot Chagaev and Ibragimov were southpaws. They were better as well, both H2H and in accomplishments.

Your record of picking Wilder's fights is as bad as I've seen on this forum so you're no authority on the matter. Your criticisms of Wilder have nothing to do with his ability and a lot to do with personal dislike and dislike of his fans.

If people want to cite Ortiz-Martin as a poor performance whilst omitting that Ortiz was washed up (being 42 officially, maybe several years older, one fight removed from his 2nd KO defeat to a massive puncher and virtually 25 months inactive) but still KO'd Martin anyway (who you probably picked to win) then the awful losing performances against Nate Tubbs, Shaun George etc. are more than fair game.
