I always seem to get a headache after I spar. I don't have to get hit very hard to the point where I'm dazed, but if a solid punch lands, I always end up with a headache soon after. I don't get hit too much, which is why I get kind of worried, what if I do get hit a lot, then how bad will it get? Is this normal? It goes away the day after, so the headache only lasts for the day when I spar. Is this normal?
If it goes away the day after then it's nothing to worry about. You got punched in the head. It's gonna make your head hurt lol
No ****? Welcome to boxing mate. I still get pretty bad headaches after sparring but as has already been pointed out its natural and should only last a couple hours. don't worry about it.
Well, my headaches last the whole day... and it gets pretty bad, almost like migraines. I've never had a concussion. But from what you guys are saying, its normal, which is good news to me. Thanks for all the input guys. If anyone else has anymore input, feel free to share
That's not true at all. A headache caused by by getting hit in the head is a brain injury (aka concussion ) even if it's a minor one, it's stilll not good. I've sparred years and my defense is kinda leaky and I have never had a headache after sparring, and only once after a fight. This should not be happening every time you spar.
Ever since I got knocked, I get headaches after I spar too. Before I got knocked down (6 months ago), I never got headaches. I got a grade 2 concussion in that knockdown, and I pretty much have headaches all the time. you may have been concussed and not know it in the past. or maybe it's just migraines.
Wow did they clear you to fight again? How long did they have you stop sparring? Because it can be bad to not give it enough time to rest
Getting advice from forum wannabe doctors is not an option for you if you want to survive and look after your brain...recently had one of my boxers complain of a head rush/headache now and again when getting hit in the side of the head from sparring. Immediately sent him to the doctor. Found out he had a pinched nerve in the back of his neck. Been off for nearly a month now... Consult a qualified local GP/Physician/Doctor in order to diagnose your headache properly Don't get caught up in the "macho syndrome" which unfortunately a lot of boxers have!
First thing I recommend is you go to a Docotr. That said, are you increasing your hydration as you spard? Really bad headaches I used to get were actually from being dehydrated. I spar but never get head aches from sparring.
