I watched the new Tyson documentary, and I learned something astounding.

During the second Holyfield fight, Mike got head-butted FIVE ****ing times within 3 rounds. Yes 5 times, I counted. And some of those were definitely intentional. You could tell holyfield was crouching down, and jutting his head forward as Mike was coming in.

If you watch right before the second earbite, Tyson gets headbutted for the 5th time. So the earbites weren't for no ****ing reason. I may have bit or at least kicked that fool in the balls myself if I was in that situation.

Yeah, but you aren't a proffessional fighter.

The point with Mike has always been that where his physicality meets his psyche, things can go wrong. I would suggest that Mike is the only ATG HW who would have reacted to Holyfield's tactics by biting his ear.

Well im not justifying the earbites, and mike is certainly no saint when it comes to fouling. But most people think he's some crazed lunatic who did it for no reason. But honestly, 5 ****ing headbutts in 2 1/2 rounds and the ref isn't doing ****, I may not have bit his ear, but I would of elbowed, or knee'd him or something.

Rough House tatics, Mike Tyson used elbow's many times during fights.

Evander Holyfield was just a better bully than Mike Tyson.

Holyfield was dirty, but so were many fighters.

Tyson himself wasn't the cleanest of fighters, even before the Holyfield fights. He hit Ferguson, Ruddock, and others after the bell. He hit Bruno, Halpin, and others when they were down. He elbowed Bruno, Biggs, Spinks, and others. He was trying to headbutt (with not nearly as much success as Holyfield uses it) Ruddock early in their first fight in a clinch.

Other guys had fought dirty against Tyson before, but Tyson usually didn't go to such a level as biting the guy's ears. That's probably because Tyson was still winning the fight, and didn't have a bad cut over his eye.

Tyson went too far, but I wouldn't have really blamed Hasim Rahman too much if he had bitten Holyfield.

Holyfield is so smart about it though. He is leading with the head as part of an aggressive swarming attack where Mike is also moving forwards. I agree with you that it was deliberate, but I don't think the referee can be flawed.

Holyfield is pushing his luck but the only **** up in the ring is Tyson IMO.

^ lol , um and Tyson had no justification even though though he was lets se... head butted at least twice in the first fight, and cut.

headbutted 5 times in the second fight, and cut.

Ya Tyson is a dirty fighter, but he's never used his head as a ****ing battering ram throughout a fight.

I love rough house fighting, Mike Tyson a decent rough house fighter. He would try and snap fighters arm's, in clinches elbow fighters etc etc

It was one of his favorite weapons, the headbutt. I remember he said God personally told him that he'd knock out Lewis in the 3rd. So in the 3rd, after taking a few punches, he comes forward but ends up short, then launches in head-first, lands a good headbutt and opens the way up for legal follow-up.

And sometimes he'd just over-do it. Against Foreman, at the end of the 3rd round, he mixes in a blatant, hard headbutt after he lands 10 or so power shots flush... asif he wasn't doing enough as it was.

Haha, i jut watched the doc for the secnd time, you know the last time i watched that fight properly was live. When i watched it again on the doc it does give you the feeling that Tyson starts to show the heart to go on and win that fight. Maybe i'm just thinking wishfully, like to think so though.

Also in that doc i learned that Tyson always had something to say about his losses as in 'i never trained properly' etc, very similar to Roberto Duran. I'm not knocking him, i think it's because he, like Roberto is a winner and winners don't like to accept defeat. Brilliant, i'm still a little in awe from the documentary.

Tyson is and always will be the man.

Holyfield pretty much admitted it. When asked he said that he just did whatever it took for him to win the fight.

Tyson himself bragged about using rough tactics against his opponents, often telling the story about Tyrell Biggs asking him to stop using elbows to which Tyson answered whether Biggs would like another one...

I understand why Tyson did what he did but it was not acceptable, not even in Tyson's own opinion. Tyson said that a warrior should never lose his discipline under any circumstances.

Holyfield was using dirty tactics but Tyson went into pure rage and had no intentions of stopping which is why he was disqualified. He was given a chance after the first bite but he went at it again and thus was disqualified, justifiably.

By the way I've heard that Holyfield admitted to biting an opponent in the amateurs, can anyone confirm this? I believe it was in the Ring Magazine.
