Great film. The parts where Tyson is talking about Cus and can't stop crying and when he's talking about his fighting style, the old-time fighters and who he emulated, etc etc, is just awesome. he did it again AFTER getting headbutted again. As far as disqualification, tyson didn't care anymore at that point, he just wanted to kill Holyfield.
I remember at the time of the bout everyone (the media) was saying Tyson bit Evander because he was looking for a way out of the fight because he knew he could not win it, the way the fight was going etc etc. Like i said i haven't watched it since it happened. But it seems pretty clear to me after watching TYSON that he did it because he lost it plain and simple, and just wanted to hurt Holfield and fuk him up.
My favourite part: "When i'm in the dressing room, i'm afraid, i've been afraid all through training, this man might beat me. But the closer I get to the ring the more confident I feel. By the time I get to the ring, i'm a good, nobody can beat me."
Yeah i know how you meant it really. Did the documnetary live up for you? You know i don't recall seeing Mike talk about Cus before watching that.
I remember reading this before as well. I believe the story is something based on Holyfield getting hurt for the first time as an amateur, he was trying to buy some time to clear his head but he was too inexperienced. He said he just did the first thing that came to his mind and wound up biting the dude. Andrew Golota bit Simon Po'hua and was a tad more upfront about it. When asked by his corner if he bit Po'hua, Golota shrugged and said "I had to bite that mother ****er."
I think so too: he was frustrated, acted on his instincts and hated being bullied. If he was looking for a way out then why didn't he bite Lewis as well, when he was being pounded from pillar to post?
Yes Evander Holyfield when he was very young, bit someonone in the amatuers. He then went home, and got a beating off his Mum....and never did it again. This was posted up years ago on Tysontalk.com..
I have a great, great video where he and Harry Carpenter are watching film of the great HW champions together, and he talks about Cus more sedately in that film.
This is unrelated but Chris Eubank also said that he bit someone in the amateurs and was very ashamed of it. He said that for the rest of his career he would always take his beating like a man and the rematch against Watson was somewhat of a retribution for him. Tyson certainly took his beating from Lewis without complaints.
