EDIT: there was an accidental headbutt involved in the knockdown, that was followed by Chavez punches, not exactly a butt indicated KD as I originally thought (a right hand started it), but heads did come together for a moment. Sexy took it well and came back firing on jelly legs! What a G! What a schoolage! What survivor! What drama! :deal

Gif (this after right hand hurt Martinez)

I was worried about that first big head-butt because it looked like it momentarily shook Martinez up and probably wanted time to recover. My first thought was Mosley vs. Forrest and how it effected Mosley afterwards. Martinez came back strong but I wondered if that was a cover-up to show he wasn't hurt so that Chavez wouldn't gain steam.

As for the other, I don't know...I have to watch it again. I must have missed it.

In the end, Martinez should have and could have played it safe but he continued to fight the same and tried to pound Chavez and paid for it.

Props to Chavez though. I thought he may have been nervous and that could have played into him freezing a bit. Add in Sergio's speed, movement, and combinations...it becomes a difficult fight.
He can certainly learn from this experience.

Yeah props to Chavez, but he can't handle movement, needs to be lighter and turn more, every time Martinez added a side-step to things, Jr. went clueless. This was the Pavlik fight all over again the KD just came in a different, more dramatic moment.

I didn't spot a headbutt which helped cause a knockdown. I'll have to watch again, but I remember it being a hayemaker right that wobbles Martinez initially, followed by an assault involving a fair few clean shots that sent him into the ropes and onto the floor.

    A legit, non-controversial knockdown.

God I'm so glad someone brought this up, I was actually gonna make
a thread about it and I never make threads, and the cuff to the head as Sergio was going down. Rematch my ass. My opinion of Chavez is even lower than it was going into the fight. Hang with the elite my ass

Jr isnt getting a rematch - there was no rematch clause.

He push his wrist onto Sergio's face before the KD. The good thing though is Sergio got up and started punching. Warrior heart and Brain.
