Exactly Ward is talented enough to have had a huge chance in this fight even without the headbutting, but I think kessler in the post fight chat was well within his rights to condemn some of the tactics of ward.

Kessler usually starts off slow anyway so him losing early rounds to Ward was to be expected. Still, head-butts or not, I didn't expect him to be that outclassed. Let's face it, Kessler can't adjust to slick fighters and lacks another gear. He'll look great against the likes of AA and Carl Froch, but will always lose or have a tough time to the likes of Ward and Dirrell.

The headbutts only took away the following from kessler:

1-His ability to see from one eye in the 8th? round

2-His vision affected in the 10th round

3-He was obviously hurt bad by the butts

4-The second butt was really bad

5-So this affected kessler getting a KO that he NEEDED because he wasn't winning anyway

so that again is debatable if he could have got the KO later on or won from the 9th round with two or so knockdowns

the thing with kessler is he has a punchers chance which was taken away by the butts, but ward was on fire tonight

I agree he starts off slowly, but just think of how at a dissadvantage kessler was with the speed of ward and hampered by blurred vision, he couldnt see punches coming.
    Those were horrific eye injuries.
Ward could have won that fight without the headbutting.

This post is not surprising coming from somebody with Calzaghe as their username because it diminishes anything Calzaghe did.

From the way the fight was going, I think Kessler would have lost anyway by UD. The only thing the cuts did was stop the fight and make the margin of victory that much wider. Kessler fights too clean for his own good.

Ward has got some skills, but he was very dirty tonight. Hopefully, Taylor beats him.

    IM not mad lol
Just dissapointed when a fight ends in controversy like that.
I wish ward all the best the sport needs more talented boxers coming through and exciting the sport.
But the win tonight was greatly influeneced by the heatbutts

Ill be interested to see the taylor v ward fight though, taylor with nothing to lose now thats a dangerous man.

That is my point. It ain't hard to tell. He acts like he doesn't understand that Ward's victory has nothing to do with Sloppy Joe Calslappy.

You can't say because Ward won rounds 1 and 2 that he would have continued to win the fight. He did go on to post close to a shut-out but the headbutts were pretty bad and may have caused a lot of damage to Kessler. We can't speculate except that it is against the rules to headbutt. Why wasn't Ward disqualified?

Ward came in with spoiling tactics, notice every straight right Kessler threw resulted in Ward clinching. Good tactics, but that isn't fighting.

Maybe his other tactic was headbutting, who knows.

At least we know he is a boxer of extreme talent. Let's hope he can stay within the rules in order to show-off his talents.

Kessler was technically sound but not fast enough. No disgrace losing to an Olympic gold medalist with more skill and speed.
