Refcam. It's an idea whose time has come.

 

The first ref cam footage of a ref getting clocked by a wild swing and miss will be hilarious. Hopefully it will be Tony Weeks.

 

It's against the rules for a ref to wear a belt, a watch, jewelry or glasses because of the risk of injury to themselves or the boxers. They do wear microphones which clip onto the shirt with a wire leading to a receiver at the back which is not imposing but I would consider a camera attached to the side of the head to be at least in the same category as glasses and should be banned.

 

I believe Weeks was wearing a blindfold during that fight.

 

They've had these for at least ten years. I'll pass. I don't need to see the promoter giving them their money any more than I need to see cops planting guns.

 

Great point that I didn't think of at all.

 

I remember seeing it on the early PBC fights and then it drop off.
I don't see the reason for the head camera, unless video refereeing is enforced to make rulings. Or else the production camera pretty much capture all that is needed.

 

And even if Tony Weeks saw several replays of the crotch cam he'd still ignore the nut bruising low blows.
