Iis it effective as far as not getting your nose smashed? It looks to me as though the bar would also hit your nose along with the glove you are being punched by, but I've never tried one so I wouldn't know for sure. I'm looking into getting one so I want to make sure it'd be worth it. No one at my gym has one so I can't ask there.

They are very effective. A lot of boxers train with them when a fight gets near to do just that; prevent an injury.

Not to thread jack, but I'm looking for headgear with a cage that covers the eye area as well, but can't seem to find available. Any help?

Some of them have a bar that is just made of the regular headgear material, so that can get pushed back into your nose but it still will protect your nose really well. Other ones have a padded steel bar that won't get pushed back so they offer more protection.

I know Cleto Reyes makes one with a steel bar, not sure about Everlast or other brands.

Yeah unless you have a job where your face needs to be "pretty" it is pretty lame to wear a face bar. At most you should need Mexican styled head gear. Anything more you need to move your head!

Nothing is worse than shredding a guys face but he keeps coming forward like he is Jose Luis Castillo's first long lost twin. Why? His face bar has him feeling invincible. Talk about annoying! :blood

What kind of question was it anyway, you know and SEE all the pros use them before their fights. Do you really think they'd be that popular is the bar that PROTECTS your face hit you in the nose? Nahh, didn't think so. So I did answer your question, they are for kids who are afraid to get hit. They give you a false sense of security. Exactly like my man said, they make you feel like you're invincible. Obviously pros need to use them b4 real events other than that... Chill with the face bar.:patsch

The face bar is used by all pros! I only know of one pro that trains in my gym that doesnt use a face bar and I think he is ridiculous. I use the fighting no contact head gear which is a knockoff of Winning. By the way Winning is what all the pros use, no ifs ands or buts

Exactly. You don't have a multi million dollar fight coming up; get used to what it feels like to be hit in competition headgear, not wearing a ***** bar.
